Bah. I think I have some cavities. I need to make a dentist appointment. | | Thursday, June 7th, 2007 | | 11:35 pm |
Whee! I just spent $41 on 4 pairs of thigh highs, one pair of gloves, and and some special detergent for washing them. I blame it on waxing my legs. | | Wednesday, May 30th, 2007 | | 7:24 pm |

Victory! Erik is setting up the Wii in the other room right now. I will start playing Zelda as soon as everything is updated. | | 3:41 am |
Armed with 6 hours of sleep during the day and 2 1/2 hours at night, I set off with Erik to buy a Wii. | | Monday, April 16th, 2007 | | 1:39 am |
Taxes My federal tax forms have been completed and they will be sent out in the morning. My state tax forms are done, but I will need to make a copy of 1099-G, so they will be sent out in the afternoon. They were supposed to send a copy for me to send back to them, but I only got the copy for my own records.
I would be getting a refund, but my parents were using me as a tax shelter for mutual funds. They pay me back when I see them in a few weeks. | | Saturday, April 7th, 2007 | | 1:29 pm |
I'm alive. Really. Erik and I have no internet access at the apartment, but it's supposed to be hooked up next week. After that I'll be back to being online. | | Monday, March 12th, 2007 | | 7:27 pm |
Short story rec "As You Know, Bob" by John G. Hemry in Analog's April edition. As one might expect from the title, it's a lovely little piece of satire. | | Thursday, March 1st, 2007 | | 1:34 pm |
I'm employed! AGU has hired me as an Editorial Support Specialist, starting March 12. *goes back to dancing* | | Friday, January 12th, 2007 | | 8:31 am |
Moving! For those of you whom I have forgotten to tell, I am moving down to DC at the beginning of February. Erik received a job offer from SAIC at the end of the summer and has since accepted it. Due to our total lack of kitchen, there will be no party celebrating my first move out-of-state. | | Thursday, December 14th, 2006 | | 9:20 pm |
I just got a new wig in the mail. It's longer than the first one, so I can make it however long I think it should be. I just hope I don't screw up on it.
My post-Christmas vacation is going to be Dec 29-Jan 3 in SF. So far I have plans to visit my cousin, go to a New Year's party, and sleep in. I really hate being able to sleep in only once per week. | | Wednesday, October 25th, 2006 | | 12:06 pm |

Uh... Right. This was a first. I was just called by someone who was given one of my jewelry business cards. I've never actually received an order (vague as this one was) on the phone. | | 9:09 am |
It's done. My parents just called. Harpo was having trouble walking the past few days and he had to be carried up and down the stairs. They called me last night to make sure that I knew that it might happen today, but I didn't think they would do it so early in the morning.
I'm glad that we had those extra days with him. | | Tuesday, October 3rd, 2006 | | 11:47 am |
Well, not today. His eyes are clear, the lump is gone, his lungs sound good, and he's very interested in life. But the next time he looks awful, it's going to happen. | | Sunday, September 24th, 2006 | | 9:57 am |
Baked Pancake Baked Pancake (The Settlement Cook Book)
2 eggs 3/4 cup flour 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 cup milk butter
Preheat oven to 425F, heat 9"x12" pan. Mix eggs, add flour, salt and milk. Beat until smooth. Melt butter in pan, pour in batter. Bake for 15 minutes, reduce heat to 325F until brown. Serve with sugar and/or lemon.
Serves 2. Approximate time: 25 minutes.
Notes: For people who have never had this before, it's similar to the top of a popover. The book says it serves 4, but it really serves 1 or 2. For best results, use a pan with high sides. Do not make more than one recipe in a 9"x12" pan. | | Wednesday, September 6th, 2006 | | 10:13 pm |
Today At 8:32, I received a call informing me that I got the job at Houghton Mifflin. I'll be working on their elementary math books until the end of February. I start either next monday or the one after that, depending on when they can find me a desk and computer.
So then there was work, selling textbooks to people. Ho-hum. It was money. (BTW, Terry? You should consider going to cities where there are art schools.)
After dinner, it was time to head out for another round of clothes shopping (my typical work clothes are not up to "professional" standards). First it was off to Marshall's (shirt/jacket thing, shirt, pants) and then we rushed over to Filene's Basement. Wait, that suit was 75% off? Hey mom, I'm just going to run back and see if they have another one I like. Italian suits for $35 = WIN. | | Thursday, August 31st, 2006 | | 11:08 pm |
Real Life Update I went to Worldcon. Certain things were awesome. Some of them make me reach for a butcher's knife. It looks like I won't be doing that internship at City Hall. Instead, it looks like I'll be temping until I get a real job/move (see below). I'm currently working at the MassArt/Mass Pharmacy store to assist the sheep-like freshmen find their books and supplies. On Tuesday, I may have an interview with Houghton Mifflin. Erik's been offered a position down in Baltimore with SAIC, the company he's been interning for. I'm starting to look for jobs down there in the event that he isn't offered a better position in the Boston area. |
