I'm currently moving all of my LJ posts over with LJ-Sec. It's managed to bring over 781 out of 861. Now I need to figure out which ones are the 60 missing posts.

Real Life Update

I went to Worldcon. Certain things were awesome. Some of them make me reach for a butcher's knife.

It looks like I won't be doing that internship at City Hall. Instead, it looks like I'll be temping until I get a real job/move (see below). I'm currently working at the MassArt/Mass Pharmacy store to assist the sheep-like freshmen find their books and supplies. On Tuesday, I may have an interview with Houghton Mifflin.

Erik's been offered a position down in Baltimore with SAIC, the company he's been interning for. I'm starting to look for jobs down there in the event that he isn't offered a better position in the Boston area.

Real Life Stuff

It's been almost three weeks since my dad got a herniated disc. He's been on narcotics for all but the first day and it looks like he'll be on them for some time. While he's lucid now (he certainly wasn't in the hospital), his brain is somewhat scrambled. No surprise, my mother has been somewhat touchy since then. She's been teaching her normal load in addition to taking care of him, and her sleep ranges from adequate to non-existent. I'm impressed that I haven't heard any screaming matches in that time.

My parents had wanted me to move out and live on my own, but I'll be staying until my dad is well enough to drive himself to work each day.

This is my second day on half a dose of Celexa. I'm experimenting in the hope that my brain might cease being defective in a certain situation. Yesterday I was pretty jittery, but I suspect that was a combination of the weather and screwing up in the lab. I've been somewhat depressive today, but I perked up after taking a long bath.

Last week I did 38 hours at work; today I did 36. I understand that as someone with just a bachelor's I'm not quite as attractive for full-time employment, but I'd really like to stop paying for health insurance out of pocket. My co-worker is going to take a month off starting from late May, so I expect to be hired full-time around then. If I'm not, I'm going to start hinting that I'd prefer to have a full-time position, and that I'm willing to go elsewhere to get it.

I considered posting about my thoughts about the nature of humanity, individuals, my own nature, and my frustration at my inability to make them into a logical whole, but screw that. If people are interested in my ramblings they're always welcome to IM me.

Now I'm off to write my diary entry for my Deadlands character. Unlike what Merc and ellF have said, he is not psychotic. He is merely fucked up for reasons I'm not quite sure of.

Bad Film Festival

I found a copy of Ninja vs. Ninja at the library (a rating of 1.2 stars at IMDB) and decided that it was time to hold another BFF. It would most likely be this Friday at my place in Newton.

I'd like to show a second bad movie; what genre should it be? I'm considering ninja, kung fu, and fantasy. If you're interested, please leave me a comment. The more the merrier, so feel free to bring friends.

Rent my place!

Following Lucky's example, I thought I'd better start to find someone to take over my lease.

The place: Puffton Village

The costs:
$760/month rent, includes heat and hot water. Yes, you can keep this place at 80 C throughout the entire winter and not pay a thing.
$50-60/month cable modem
$40-50/month electricity, does NOT take summer air conditioning into consideration

The good stuff:
1 LARGE BR, can easily fit 2 people
walk-in closet
full bathroom, larger than any closet
good size living room
kitchen
5 minute walk from the bus stop
5 minute walk from laundry
located in the back of the complex, so parking is rarely an issue
has basketball/tennis courts and a swimming pool, if you care about that stuff
friendly office staff
I'm willing to part with appliances and some furniture
10 minute walk from Cumberland Farms, a few minutes more to the local market.

The bad stuff:
The door is north-facing. When any form of water comes off the roof, it freezes on the steps and refuses to melt. I will toss in an ice chipper.
No pets. Theoretically. I've seen two small dogs and a number of cats.
2 bus routes needed to get to Big Y or Stop & Shop

Will add more as I think of it.

Feel free to pass this along to friends, x-post, whatever. I just don't want to pay rent this summer while I'm back in Boston.

Bwahaha, what a wonderful series.
Take the action and fanservice of Kite, comedy from your choice of slapstick, and cliché send-ups of Gainax, mix well, and you have Mezzo.
I've seen the first two eps and it already looks like all of the major characters have been introduced. The action scenes are always gorgeous and well-timed, and I'd love to say *why* they're so wonderful, if I weren't ruining the surprise. The characters take the bizarre situations in stride while the script gives them utterly ridiculous lines, and it's done with a wink and a nudge.
Now, if only the third and fourth eps would download...

amusing

Today I was in the actual lunch room and listening to the conversation while eating lunch and starting my last bracelet. One of the guys asked me what I was making, etc, and I wound up mentioning that there would be a fantasy con at the Park Plaza next weekend.
"I'm going there this weekend for another convention," said Karen.
I gave her a look.
As people were leaving, I asked her if there was another con at the Park Plaza, or if there was only one there next weekend. She seemed a bit puzzled, so I explained that sometimes there's more than one convention at the same time at the Park Plaza.
"Oh, I think there's only one. I assume that by not naming it we're talking about the same one."
So I may bump into her at the FFF and possibly Arisia as well.

Have apparently failed to mention to people that I am sick with the plague or whatever is going around right now.
May go to work tomorrow if I do not feel miserable in the morning.
Still have not seen RotK.
Watched P&P in two sittings. Have not sniggered so much in a very long time.
Am now reading BJD. Think I will give it a break and wait until tomorrow morning to finish it.
Have more bracelets done, although I have still failed to play around with the niobium rings and our gas stove.
Full persian is very pretty, but the rings I have collapse when it isn't hanging. Boo. Grizzly works quite well, but it's not nearly as pretty. I may make some byzantine with the small rings I have left; not enough for a bracelet, but certainly enough for earrings.
