Gardening
About.com’s most recent landscaping newsletter was all about Goth Gardening. Perfect for Halloween! It includes a section on ”black” plants (most of them are actually very dark red or purple). And references to getting an Addams family look to your garden. I started looking for plants to make an Addams family garden several months ago and I may put up a picture post of it for Halloween. It’s not just black plants, though. I think the Addamses would also include a lot of weird and flesh-eating plants in their garden. Suggestions are always very, very welcome.

I have Kid Nation taped and will watch it tonight after Survivor: China. I am down to just 4 Wednesday shows and I feel much better as a result. It was great watching Dirty Sexy Money from 9 - 10 rather than watching a tape of it.
In real life/family news...
My dad wants to go to lunch on Sunday. I don’t want to, but I can’t say no, which is making me angry and making me feel resentful and put upon and obligated which is silly because it’s just lunch and it’s no big deal or rather it shouldn’t be a bid deal, but it is one. I plan to be out most of Saturday and don’t really want to have company over and have to deep clean my house for them frantically Saturday night. If it were just him, it wouldn’t be, but as long as he is bringing a woman (an extremely critical and negative woman) into my home, the place has to be in perfect order before they can come over. See, now I’m justifying saying no. I have this whole big problem where I feel guilty and oppressed because of a family history of never being consulted - just being told where to be and no excuses I had to be there. I know I’m being whiney and this shouldn’t be a big deal, but it is. I think saying no to lunch arbitrarily is probably about me exercising my independence and I should just recognize it for that, but it really peeves me that something as minor as lunch is such a big psychological issue for me.
