Beauty and the Geek
This was not a very exciting episode.
Personally, I think unless you have the right 'tude, DJ and voice, rapping is pretty geeky. After all, it's not necessarily much different from filking or such unless you do it right. I suppose making them get up on stage and perform taught self-confidence, though.
I’m glad Will won the rapping contest over John. John seemed a little more confident, but he had his gimmick up there which is kinda cheating, and I think that’s why Will won. And I kinda like Will, anyway. I loved him tsking at Jasmine and whichever blonde that was when they were spying.
The “debate” was just sad in the funniest way. Can’t remember who it was, but the girl who didn’t speak at all and the cricket chirp sound effect were hilarious. So was Jasmine’s nonsense. And Sam is such a ringer.
I liked Tony and Amanda and I will miss them. I had thought Amanda was smarter than that, but she really blew it.
House
House is back! Yay!
I loved the interplay between House, Wilson and Cuddy. House kidnapping Wilson’s patient was hilarious. Wilson trying to change his voice, and the addition of Cuddy as one of the people not to tell – hilarious. Dr. Buffer suggesting Lupus!
Blondie Dr. was okay. Nothing that got me excited, though.
I love the idea of House picking his new cottages reality-tv style. This should be awesome fun!
I really didn’t miss the original cottages. Except maybe Chase, a little. But for the most part I was okay with them being gone. Not that I think they will stay gone, but maybe they can move on to a different capacity and be on less. I would be fine with that.
I didn’t realize until after I’d been forum-reading after the show that the PotW was based on a true story. My heart really broke for the family that thought their loved one was alive but she wasn’t.
Dancing with the Stars
Cameron - I don’t watch AMC so I didn’t know who he was. He’s fairly nice looking and an okay dancer. I thought he did a pretty good job being first out for the guys and he’s not obnoxious. Right now he’s middle-of-the-pack for me, but I’m impressed by his dancing despite the flexibility issues and his tough schedule.
Floyd - His footwork was pretty good and he seems like a nice, hard-working guy. Unlike what’s his face last time he put some effort into learning and didn’t act like he was above the contest or learning from his partner. He really did put a lot of oomph into his cha cha cha. The one thing I didn’t like was his posture. I was hoping the judges would say something to him about his bunched up, rounded shoulders, not because I wanted him criticized but because I think it would be better for him to break that habit early. I suspect he’ll be around for a while, and the longer they let him go on dancing like that the harder it will be for him to change. Also, he’s very heavy-footed. I don’t know if he can help that. Overall, though I thought he did an okay job.
Helio - I can’t remember his dance. I can remember he was very charming. I think I gave him a few votes just for the charm and because he wasn’t awful. He’s another middle of the packer for me.
Albert - Best of the night, but not as good as the best ladies, I’m afraid. Still, I thought he really got into it and yes, he has a nice chest.
Mark - Huh. Well, he wasn’t completely wretched. He actually seemed to have worked pretty hard to learn the dance and I have no doubt he’ll keep that up if he stays in the competition. He also wasn’t all that obnoxious. Perhaps there is hope for him. However, if he sings along with the music again I’ll have to smack him!
Wayne - Ack! Worst in the competition (not just worst of the men, but worst period) by far! He basically did the older-guy-with-huge-fanbase-stands-around-and-smiles-while-his-partner-dances dance. I hate that. I cannot believe the judges were so easy on him! I don’t care if he is “Mr. Las Vegas.” Gah! Grrrrr!
I voted evenly for Cameron, Helio and Albert. I think Wayne should go tomorrow, but he won’t, unfortunately. I have a higher opinion of Josie after watching Wayne dance and I really want him to leave before her, but that isn’t going to happen.
I was all frantic over what to do about having so many shows on at 7:00 p.m. tonight, then I remembered that I never watch the DWTS results show. I haven’t decided if I will try to watch tonight or not. Probably I will tape Kid Nation, and watch ANTM and flip over to DWTS a few times to see what is happening.

The thing that struck me about Wayne (and oddly enough I'd had the same thought when he was on Design Star) is that he had no back flexibility or rotation almost as if he had a fused spine. But yeah, he was by far the worst. Be interesting to see who ends up going home. I also find myself, once again, wishing they could get dance jackets for the men instead of regular ones but I bow to practicality.
Yes, I agree. Wayne's back was very stiff. I didn't notice it on Design Star, but I definitely did last night. He sure seems to have caught the reality TV bug this year! I don't think he'll go home, even though he should. His fanbase is just too big and I think people tend to have sympathize for the older folks for at least attempting to compete. Dance jackets would be very nice. And *anything* would have been better than Mark Cuban's silly costume. I know it was supposed to fit the song but urgh! I hated it! | |
