Project Runway

I was surprised Terri was aufed over Kenley as well. I didn't like many of the offerings this week to be honest, but Blayne's stood out in that 'outstanding in the field -- left field" way. "Pooing fabric" was so right. It amazed me that as ridiculous as it looked from the front it was even worse from the back! Terri's I could at least see the Leo inspiration which is more than I can say for Kenley's... wait, what was her sign? I suspect the non-working adversarial relationship between Terri and Keith (hard to say who acted more childishly of the two, really) played a part in it. But Kenley's Glinda's Day Dress really should have gone.

The thing that amused me the most was that no one seemed to get the avant-garde concept. Beyond the 'something we haven't seen before' because they sure as heck had that!! Along with a good amount of 'something we hope never to see again' LOL!

And I think Kenley's comment about never looking at designer collections is absurd just on the face of it. How can anyone who aspires to being a top designer truthfully never study anyone else's collection? Personally, I think it's her defense against the charge of being derivative, and not a very good one.

Top Design

I'm a little torn about which bunker had the best design. In part because Eddie seems a little too much like a ringer (though I can appreciate wanting to be known in his own right and not under Martha Stewart's name) and so I tend to expect his work to stand out. And partly because Nathan and Wisit are so totally adorable together. Eddie and Andrea SCHROEDER's room was beautifully done and put together and would have been lovely in a magazine, but Wisit and Nathan's bunker was theirs in a much more personal way, I thought.

Robert, unfortunately, reminded me much too much of Design Star's Rob. I still would've sent both him and Jennifer home, but I'd have listed him first based on what we saw. He dismissed everything Jennifer suggested. When Jennifer noted that the room needed more coherence his response was just short of Rob's "I'm a designer, you aren't, just do what I tell you to do and we'll be fine." Jennifer's mistake was in continuing to try for cohesion instead of going all out and decorating 'her' space. They really did end up with the dorm space from hell where it's clear the roommates don't like each other. Except in a real dorm they'd have gotten two of the bookcases so they could put them upright between the spaces!!

I'm hoping the next challenge will allow the designers to work on their own.
