| What Day Is It? Clothes, Diet, American Idol |
[May. 21st, 2008|02:49 pm] |
I cannot get my brain to acknowledge that today is Wednesday. It has insisted all day long that it is actually Thursday.
Okay, this is kind of an embarrassing admission combined with major YAY!: I am wearing some new pants from J. Jill. It’s the first time I’ve been able to fit into any of their pants in ... ever. And these are not even their biggest size, plus they are loose on me. Yay!! That’s kind of bad in a way because I like them and they were not cheap. I think I may have them taken in instead of replacing them.

| Cheery Things |
[May. 20th, 2008|11:20 am] |
Reading my flist posts from the last 24 hours or so makes me think we all need a hug and something cheery. So...
Remember Square Pegs? It comes out on DVD today!
These pictures are just what I needed today! They’re cheerful and springy and full of joy.
And there’s more! Even though there is one cloudy picture in this batch, the flowers more than make up for it.

My sister has turned in the final draft of her book! Congratulations A!!!
Tonight is the final performance on American Idol 7. If you love American Idol, it’s a big big big night. If you don’t care about, or dislike American Idol, it’s almost over for the year. :)

| American Idol, Hell's Kitchen, TV |
[Apr. 30th, 2008|12:04 pm] |
Ick! Mercury, Jupiter and Neptune all go retrograde in May. :(
I took my measurements last night. My upper half is two sizes smaller than my lower half. I know that’s to be expected as that’s generally how losing inches works, but it’s still a little annoying.
( American Idol )
( Hell’s Kitchen )
AOL’s got a 50 best TV comedies list up. I could probably quibble over placement and I don’t care for either The Simpson or Friends. But I think my not liking the those two is partly generational and partly just who knows what. I do understand that millions of people find them funny. As a result I actually agree with 49 out of the 50 shows on the list. The only one that doesn’t belong is #50, Everybody Loves Raymond which was never funny at all, doesn’t belong on any “good” list and was, IMO a favor David Letterman did for Ray Romano, who doesn’t deserve any favors. *ahem* Sorry, I feel strongly about that show. But the rest, yeah, funny times. Looking through it brought back some great memories and I was happy to see Larry Shandling at 11 and Mary Tyler Moore at 4, and Bob Newhart in there a well-deserved twice. Yay!
I’m a little frustrated today – having communication and planning problems that make me really sad. Bah!

| American Idol, Top Chef, HP Movies |
[Mar. 13th, 2008|11:37 am] |
Between the time change and coughing (and I think somewhat from being hungry) I am completely exhausted. My computer person is coming by this weekend and I also have to do a little cleaning, but other than that my plan for this weekend is to sleep.
I didn’t really watch American Idol this week because I’m not all that interested in any of the contestants this time around and please don’t shoot me but I think the theme was good-but-seriously-over-hyped-artists this week.
So ( American Idol )
Now, Top Chef, on the other hand, I am very interested in. And the first episode did not disappoint me at all. It made me desperately hungry for deep dish pizza ( and some other yummy things )
The news about the last HP book being made into two movies makes me happy. IMO more is better and it will be a longer time until it’s over, so yay!

| Food/Diet/Exercise, American Idol, Project Runway |
[Feb. 28th, 2008|02:09 pm] |
I found out this morning that the firm will pay $50 a month towards a fitness club membership. So Monday I’m going with a co-worker to the club that’s closest to Mockingbird Station. I think that if I start using a recumbent bike again, it will not only help me with the weight loss, but will help get my knees back to not hurting so much. I’m really excited about it.
I am also considering weighing myself. Last time I did this (about 12 years ago), I went 3 months without dropping a pound, but went down 3 dress sizes at the same time. It was weird, even though I know it was because I was putting on muscle, and discouraging. Then when I finally did start dropping weight, I got obsessive about weighing. I don’t want that to happen again. I’m already starting to notice a little obsessiveness with regard to tracking what I eat.

| Miscellaneous Stuff, with Brief Mentions of American Idol and Project Runway |
[Feb. 21st, 2008|09:49 am] |
Things and People I love extra special much today:
My bus driver
The Daily Plate, a free nutrition and exercise tracking website. (Seriously, it gives you most of what ediets, etc charge you for for free if you put up with a few minor ads.) They even have support groups (and you can form your own - I think a fangirls and fanboys support group there would be awesome) and meals and recipes and active forums.
Simon Cowell
RAMIELE MULABAY!!!
Thing I do not love quite so much:
Today’s rainy, cold weather.
I only watched a few minutes of the ( Project Runway Reunion Show )

| Food, American Idol |
[Feb. 20th, 2008|12:05 pm] |
This is one of the craziest things I’ve ever seen:
Dinner in the Sky.
I feel really good today. Like, I actually want to go walking good. So I think I will go for a walk when I get home this evening. Or possibly go to Central Market and get more fresh broccoli and some brown rice and then walk home from there. I thought I had some brown rice at home last night, and I’m trying to add a little bit of it back into my diet at lunch time, but I had none. I searched my kitchen 3 times for it.
I watch approximately 2.4 minutes of American Idol last night. There are still too many guys I don’t want to look at in the running. Unfortunately, I think there is a strong possibility that some of those guys will be around well into the top 12 or whatever it is this year. Despite my having not seen the show and his having sung an Elvis song (GRRRR!), I speed voted for Danny Noriega for 2 hours last night. I like him, he’s the VFTW pick, and until the long haired guys and girls I just don’t like are gone, he gets all my votes. He is my Hayley for this season.

Happy Valentines Day!
Warner Brothers is selling a Luna Lovegood jewelry set.
Thank you everyone for the recs for places to look for an inspiration outfit. I’m going to try all of them, and last night I also remembered Talbot’s.

| American Idol, Project Runway, Quizzes, Anthony Bourdain, Tarot |
[Jan. 16th, 2008|10:51 am] |
This is probably going to be a pretty short entry. I watched some of the American Idol premiere, but I never have much to say about the auditions. D hates them and refuses to watch with me. He did come in during the second hour and I fell asleep around 8:15 and missed most of it. It seems I missed a Princess Leia cos-player (actually two of them and one was male???). I did not miss the silly girl with the rehearsed anti-Simon meltdown. One of these days one of the auditioners with that agenda is going to get effusive praise from Simon and be rejected by Paula and Randy and still storm off screeching invectives at Simon. I’m looking forward to that day, at least in part because it might mean an end to that nonsense. Tonight’s episode is here in my hometown of Dallas. I remember hearing on the radio about the traffic jams the auditions caused. Whee! I am much more excited about Project Runway. The previews look fierce!
Miscellaneous Fun Links:
Here’s a fun little quiz on how good your powers of observation are. Apparently, the average person gets 7 out of 25. I got 15 out of 25 and I can't believe some of the ones I missed!
Long, but very good interview with Anthony Bourdain.
The Gummy Bear Tarot. It’s almost more adorable than I can bear. (Sorry!)

| American Idol, Paradise Hotel, American Gladiators, Paranormal State, Rock of Love |
[Jan. 15th, 2008|12:06 pm] |
BIG News! Idol starts tonight!!!
BIGGER News! Paradise Hotel is returning!!! JOY!!! Between that and the auspicious premiere of Rock of Love 2, sleazeTV is off to a great start for the spring season. PH2 will be on two channels - the regular version will air on FOX’s Mynetworktv affiliates (whatever channel you get that shows Wicked, Wicked Games, Decision House and Jail) and then an extra-sleazy version will be shown late at night on FOX Reality. Hee! Unfortunately, I don’t get FOX Reality, so I’m going to have to settle for the regular-sleaze version.
I'm still enjoying American Gladiators just as much as I did the first time around. ( Just in case anyone's got it on their TV to watch later, still... )
I thought Paranormal State was kind of boring last night. There was too little Ryan craziness. The wine glasses breaking was pretty spooky, though.
And I caught the season premiere of Rock of Love 2. Talk about sleazy! I felt like I needed to scrub the TV down with Lysol afterwards. But boy, was it funny. ( Cut for some spoilery talk about the results )
