This is the amazing story of a portrait painter following the war. Fairly non-linear, with interludes from the past and the present all mixed in with the artist painting various portraits. It's a wonderful glimpse into the magical world that we've never really seen before in the books.

4:48PM - Instead of giving a politician the keys to the city, it might be better to change the locks.
Based on recent information about LJ's stance on "obscenity", I've taken the precaution of f-locking the two fics I have that are NC-17 and could be considered underage (both participants in the sex act are 17 at the time each fic takes place). If things continue to downspiral, I will lock all my NC-17 fics.
If you want to friend me to read the f-locked fics, that's fine. I don't think it's necessary for me to start verifying if you are over 18 unless I lock all my NC-17 fics, and I'll let you know if and when I make that decision.
I've created a Real Life filter as well. Most of you are probably on it; the people excluded are those who seem to have specifically friended me for reading fanfic. If you're included on my Real Life filter and don't want to be, you can ask to be taken off. I won't be offended, I know my ramblings can be boring. *g* Conversely, if you friend me or have friended me and want to read my Real Life posts, feel free to ask to be added to that filter.

I'm asking for prompts, but you don't get to request for yourself.
You comment with a pairing and prompt (HP only) for a teenyfic (3-400 words-ish, usually, though some have ended up longer) for one of your favorite LJ friends, not for you, and not for ME.

6:15AM - Finished the book in 4 1/2 hours...
and my roommate conked out about 1/4 of the way through the book and is asleep on the couch 2 feet from me. *pats* Poor thing had to work yesterday while I slept in and took a long afternoon nap. Anyway, it's a bit after 6 a.m. and I'm still wired on the massive amounts of caffiene I ingested to stay awake and read.
The party was fun - I wore my "I Trust Snape" shirt, which people seemed to love. It was cool looking at all the people dressed up... the best were the people that came as Quidditch - two bludgers, a quaffle, a snitch and a hoop. *g* My roommate took pictures, so hopefully they'll turn out. We waited in line about 1 1/2 hrs before grabbing our books and running for the car.
I read the first chapter aloud to E by the light of my cell phone as she drove home. Me? Obsessed? Nooo....

Those are all my thoughts for now... I'll probably have more when I reread the book or as I discuss with others, but for now I'm heading to bed. My roommate is snoring on the couch, and I'm about to go up to my own room for a well-deserved rest. :D

9:21AM - The Book (non-spoilery) and other fun things...
While I'm avoiding spoilers, I am curious about The Book that has appeared online. MSN.com had a pretty decent article here, which I thought did a good job of explaining what was going on without spoiling anyone.

In fun stuff, I have been trying to convince my friends that Tonks is under a love potion and Remus doesn't truly love her. *snicker* It's been rather amusing, to say the least. I hold such different views from most of them that it's fun to destroy their view of canon discuss. I think at the very least, I've convinced one of my friends that Tonks was very pathetic in HBP, as opposed to her coolness in OotP. I've convinced a couple others of Snape's true allegiances. I've also raised questions as to whether Percy could be a Ministry spy for the Order. Hee. Being subversive is fun.

I love this fic. It's sweet and a little sad at points and funny and just... I love it. She manages to work so much of the quirky prompt in and yet make it a geniunely heartwarming and funny story. What I love most is how you can see the little things Remus says or does that shows what he feels for Severus, but Severus is just completely clueless. This fic just made me happy and was exactly what I needed this morning. So I thought I'd make sure you saw it too... :D

10:58PM - Movie, take two
I went to see the movie for the second time tonight, this time with friends. I was wearing my "I Trust Snape" shirt, which was geeky, but fun. *g* We went out to eat after and the door guy teased me by saying, "We don't serve your kind [Snape fans] here."
I decided to be mature and stuck my tongue out at him. Hey, I figured it was better than yelling, "I am Snape's Fangirl and We Are Legion!!!"

Anyway, my friends all really liked it and are pretty convinced that this is the best of the movies so far (except for perhaps PoA, though we're divided on that). At the restaurant we bandied around theories - who thought Sirius was coming back, what the cover of DH might mean, and who was crazier: the person who was going to stay up all night reading (me) or the people (a couple) who were going to read one chapter a night together until it was done? (I voted them as the crazy people - there's no way they'll stay unspoiled!)
And now, off to bed, or I'll be falling asleep over my desk at work.
