 | 12:28 am - Oh, this could be interesting... Warner Brothers is trying to get the licensing to make a live-action adaptation of Bleach.
I sense amusement on the horizon, and I know it could totally generate wank in the future. Head's up everybody!

- pandarus: Unpopular Fannish Opinion - But - honestly, it makes my soul shrivel a bit, every time I see a story (which may or may not be my cup of tea) being reduced in its descriptors to who tops whom, and a characterisation reduced to Bottom!Cas or Bottom!Wesley or what the fuck ever. -

| 08:22 pm AND THEN I DID A FANFIC.
bodlon and I were discussing classic Who the other day, and the interesting arcs both Ian and Barbara have in the First Doctor's era. I have many thoughts on both of them, but particularly on Ian; for a long time I've thought both that he was probably thrilled to get away from boring heteronormative Earth and that he would have a difficult time adjusting to life back home, since after you've had gay sex in a storage locker while the Daleks take over the world, Coal Hill School doesn't exactly thrill.
The solution?
A job with Torchwood!
And as it's Torchwood, I wrote porn. :D
Title: Delight Of Battle Rating: R (Jack Harkness/Ian Chesterton) Summary: Earth is a hard place to be stuck after having all of time and space at your feet. Sometimes, even Torchwood can mean freedom.

| 06:00 pm So then I watched 26 episodes of Hetalia in a sitting.
I BLAME JEAN. And it's actually her fault this time. But they're only five minutes long, it's ok.
Hetalia is this thing, okay, where there are a bunch of characters who represent countries and they...interact. No, it doesn't make sense, don't try to make it make sense. It simply is. The Zen of Hetalia.
The thing about Hetalia is, it's like watching a normal anime (and I use the term "normal" quite loosely) whilst on LSD. You can't understand it. You will never understand it. You just have to let it wash over you. There is some appeal in the idea of a storytelling structure where you have no plot, you just do shit because it'll be interesting. Why are Italy, Germany, and Japan stranded on a beach, but only in half the episodes? Why is Austria such a prick? WTF is up with the SpagBol in the credits? Was that seriously just a giant singing Roman Empire playing the ukelele?
DON'T ASK.
But do check out Sealand sometime. It's kind of a hoot.
Jean declared me Germany, because he answers the phone a lot and likes to be alone. I can't really deny this, in my heart of hearts.

 | 09:22 am - Missing comments Hmmm... I have received the email notification for the comments on Rufus' latest post but they aren't appearing in the journal entry and of course I didn't keep the email notification since I expected to be able to see them in the journal. Argh.
Hopefully they will turn up at some time and Rufus can answer.
ETA. Okay I think it's fixed... I may have had the comments screened. *face palms*

| 01:39 pm I finally made it to storage today. I've been putting it off because it can be a bit overwhelming, but as I suspected the memory is worse than the reality.
I'm down to six boxes and a bookcase that need to come home, six boxes to go to the Brown Elephant thrift shop, three boxes of trash, and two boxes I still need to sort through. I found the entire box of grad school notes I kept, most of which are a mystery to me now; I have all the flashcards that I converted them to for cramming for orals, so I got rid of most of them, and ruthlessly weeded my book collection. I definitely do not need three copies of East Of Eden, however much I may love it.
I brought home my "treasure box" that I have to go through, odd little trinkets I picked up here and there. I also found a very nice tin box that I do not, at all, know the origin of, and which was filled with coins I don't remember acquiring. For instance, I have never been to Bermuda, and yet if I went I could probably buy a candy bar there. I have definitely never been to Finland, and I'm not sure these coins are even legal tender in Finland anymore.
Perhaps I am Xanatos, and my future self left the coins behind for me.
In that case, I very much look forward to my Finnish-Bermudan world tour.

Kotex, a women's tampon company had to change their promotional ad because TV executives were uncomfortable with the word VAGINA!
Terms "Vagina" and "Down There" Banned from T.V. Ads
( for the link-phobic )
I can't help being reminded of the "Angry Vagina" monologue and "Reclaiming Cunt" from The Vagina Monologues. NSFW due to language.

 | 02:06 pm Fellow cast and crew members,
I really hate to have to throw my weight around as director of our project, but I've had to do so because it seems NONE of you can coordinate your fucking schedules to get a scene done that's due Tuesday. It's not even like I pulled you off the street and asked you to help me. WE WERE FUCKING ASSIGNED TO EACH OTHER. I MEAN, WE'RE FILM AND ACTING STUDENTS, FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. OUR GRADES ARE DEPENDING ON GETTING THIS THING DONE. SO GET YOUR GODDAMN ACTS TOGETHER.
Sincerely, Me Current Mood: GRRRRRR

Cleaned house. Am now parked on the couch watching CSPAN. If it's wrong to want to eat popcorn while watching this I do not want to be right.

Stay classy, Tea Partiers. STAY CLASSY.
ETA: And it gets even better! Link via littleshebear: Right-wing bloggers demand apology from lawmakers called n-word by Tea Partyers. Yes, you read that right- they want an apology FROM THE PEOPLE WHO HAD RACIAL SLURS HURLED AT THEM because they're "just playing the race card" and (a direct quote) "So what if some idiot said a bad word?". Yeeeeah.

 | 09:28 am - Hetalia is too lulzy, I want it to OFFEND! OFFEND, I TELL YOU! A bit late, but as I told an anon in wank_report, it's here. Sorry for C/ping.
Random Hetalia fan chucks the cat within the birds as a reply to a Hetalia secret, by saying:
( History isn't for the weak! And even if I have to make the whole fandom look bad AGAIN, I'll say it! )
You can guess how many shenanigans, troll accusations, "debates" about WWII, horrified screams of the "this is why Hetalia fandom has a bad rep!", etc. followed until the threads were frozen. Current Mood: blah
