Lament I love "arranged marriage" stories. Not bonding stories! ((Shudder)) It takes out all the challenge and all the triumph if there's some sort of mystical soul bond that draws the characters together. I'm talking real arranged marriage stories, where first you have to get them to put up with each other long enough to decide they want to continue putting up with each other. I don't even, necessarily, want them to fall desperately in love; a story that covers the progression from "violent dislike" to "tolerance" or "acceptance" is just lovely. No need to be overambitions! :)
This is my problem: it's ridiculously hard to do this with Snape/Harry, because of the age gap and Harry's lack of parents, not to mention his faulty bloodline. And the fact that they're both male. In fact, since most all of my favoured pairings have the same problem (they involve either Harry or an age differential, or both), these sorts of stories are rare. Then, of course, you have to count out all the "magic bond" stories. Then you have to count out all the MPreg. ((Shudder))
I suppose every pairing has its plot flaws.
