LOTR Rec An Honest Man of Gondor, by Lullenny, has one of the most amazing outside-looking-in views on hobbits I've ever run across. She is one of the few authors I've read who does not treat hobbits as short Men, and who remembers that they are a species in their own right. Also, she uses another character's perspective to work her magic, which is always lovely.
