Welcome to JF!
OK so WOW! A lot of new people here! If anyone knows how to do the bulk friend add please let me know! I've been of a friending spree trying to find everyone, so if you saw I added you and wondered why - now you know. Hello! If I missed you PLEASE tell me. As a result my flist is a good place to start to re-find your friends.

bookshop also has a good group, as does

painless_j with only partial overlap.

I don't know where to look for non HP - fandoms, sorry :/

Re. bulk friending ... you can always go to the admin console (www.journalfen.net/admin/console) and then type "friend add [username]" to add people in bulk. That's how I imported my friends' lists into JF, IJ, and GJ.

Hey, I tracked you down! Just deleted my LJ today, and I'm not quite sure how I feel about that.

Is there any damned way to search by username on here? Seems so much easier than just typing in names, clicking add, and hoping that those people are actually here.

Oulangi, thanks so much! You are ever helpful. And more than that, you always know exactly what hits my kink du jour:

But -- sigh. I really like IJ, I had to set up at GJ as well because so many people did this thing of going there ... I honestly think that's like the versions of The Three Pigs where the first one, whose house of straw the wolf blows down, runs to shelter with the second one -- in the house of twigs? Quick but not thinking very far ahead. GJ doesn't sound much friendlier than LJ so why go there?

Now the question becomes: Is IJ or JF the "house of bricks"?

Regardless, I have to be in 4 places now to read my favorite people. I was almost hoping I could all but ignore JF except for FW and you :-) But now you've shown me where the comms are -- here! (I was starting to miss them already.)

Thank goodness for the mass flist-add tool. Ahhh... at least one solution that works for this MacBook person.

GJ actually sounds less friendly than LJ - they apparently kill journals over *any* NC17 homosexual graphics - regardless of the age of the participants. And IJ - it's just too familiar. A little too early Brad. A little too laying foundations in a swamp. I'll stick with the tried and true JF.

I know there are people won't join b/c of fandom wank (which HELLO? The hypocrisy BURNS! Plus, if they're so hot to condemn an entire blog service for communities, why the hell didn't they leave LJ for hosting neo nazi communities, anti gay communities etc?!) whatever - I like a list that understands that principles outweigh personal dislikes.

Well, in keeping with my philosophy, I got a paid account on JF - cos if I want to be welcome, I sure as heck also need to be supportive! So far it looks like it works great.

Except I seem to have like, four PayPal accounts (ahh, my eBay days catching up with me) and I can't remember the password for the one with the credit card I wanted to use, so now I'll have to go fix that.

Aargh. Technology is like beard burn. You get it because you're having fun and it's not going to kill you, but you sure have to negotiate around it sometimes ;-)

Is JF more recent code than IJ?

I don't know any of these things.

I did hear (from you or I dunno who, I am so confused now) -- that JF has initiated some upgrades due to the migration.

(Which is why everyone new should help by *paying*. It's not like it's expensive!)
