I sort of like before pictures of events better to. You get that calm of everything is perfect before drunk people mess it all up.

The dog - GAH! His issues run deeper than anyone knew. I've been working on the stay/leave training that's supposed to help dogs with separation anxiety, but if anything he's *more* clingy. I can't get up to get something from another room without him following, and if he's asleep and notices I'm gone? He runs through the whole house and yard until he finds me.

Sorry to hear about the dog, I spent part of the weekend dogsitting for friends who went to Burning Man. Fortunately, their dogs don't have any problems like that. Instead, if you leave them alone, they chew. They've killed 3 tv remotes, half a dozen video tapes, 1 camera, and I've lost count of how many cd's. I'd still rather pick up plastic shards than dog poo though.

I did melt. I was SO melty and the way the hotel is set up its all outdoors. I do events, which is all running around like a maniac anyway.

My dog is not a chewer - he doesn't do anything intentionally destructive at all. But nervous stomach got the better of him :(

Is the monster dog cage-trained? Our dog had separation anxiety when we first got her - she'd pull the cushions off the couches and then tear up what was beneath - and having that place of security really calmed her down. Now she goes there whenever she feels anxious.

Other advice would be give him something to focus on, i.e. a Kong filled with peanut butter.

More good advice here.

Also, you might just want to try kenneling him or boarding him at an open-kennel dog boarding facility/doggy daycare. This way he can be active with and kept company by other dogs, and when he does make a mess on the premises it's not a big deal.

Wow, great picspam. Yeah, my folks were admonishing me for my gripes about the weather. I swear I had no idea these hurricanes down south were what was bringing in the humidity. I thought yeah, sure, they're stuck in the crazy Coachella Valley heat but at least it's dry and not this muggy shit. But no, they informed me that this humidity has hit them too. Wow. I'm glad I'm not there!

So sorry to hear about your puppy. That sucks. My cat likes to get a urinary infection while we're away and piss blood all over the home of who ever the ignorant fuck was we inflicted her upon. She particularly enjoys messing beds. *groan* I can empathize.
