I'm just going to come right on out and ask: Any web designers out there? The reason why I ask this is because I'm actually trying to learn web design. My wonderful, supportive hubby has bought me the Dreamweaver bible--which is really, like, a book of biblical proportions. He also got me a Photoshop CS book, an HTML book and a book for beginning web designers.
First of all, I'm very comfortable with Photoshop--I can manage that quite well. HTML is quite easy to learn, as is CSS--which I'm still trying to master. Dreamweaver is proving to be a little difficult to understand, but I'm trying.
I was just soliciting advice: What do you professional web designers think I should do? I'm thinking about taking a few classes--can't afford the proper Associates degree just yet--because I feel like I need to be pointed in the right direction as far as what I need to learn, important skills to have, etc. I've been to many a wonderful web site and noticed on the owner bio that they were completely self-taught. Not sure that I could do that...
Would I be able to get away with taking an introductory web design course and teach myself from there? If so, what classes do you recommend? And also, what are your experiences in the field?
I would very much appreciate any advice you pros have.
