And fortunately this time I rang the bosses LAST NIGHT, and let them know well in advance that I wouldn't be at work (just as well, because the other registrar is still on holidays - oops! Still it's good for the bosses to have to do SOME work once in a while). Must get better soon; there's a mock Part 1 Pathology exam in Sydney tomorrow that I can't afford to miss. For the Malory Towers fans: feeling much like Ellen right now. On the other hand, there is a wonderful bookstore I have discovered not that far from here (Little Lane Books - see my most recent post in New Atalanta for the details), and going there will be MY birthday treat. Though I can't see what I'll be doing on my actual birthday apart from studying my backside off...
A snowstorm of Malory fanfic has appeared. Some of it mine. Most of it not. That which is not, is very good. And all by the usual suspects, of course, which meant that it was even better. Kicking myself because I just couldn't find a way to write Bill/Clarissa in such a way that it was (a) not just "Any Two Girls" and (b) Easter themed in some way. Oh well; better to write one's second choice better than one's first choice poorly. (I despise and detest the thought of saffic!Malory ATG: it reminds me of the poorly justified rubbish that HP smut-fen consistently and inexplicably put Harry and Draco through).
Still, on Friday week, it's off to Adelaide to see my little cousin get christened. Haven't actually seen her yet, and it will be nice to. Her older sister is very much my favourite, possibly because her mother (my aunt) was very much an older-sister figure when I was a boy, and I want to repay the favour by being an older-brother figure back. Sort of hard, thought, given the distance.
And I intend to spoil her rotten by way of compensation for baby sister getting all the attention. There will be no Sally/Daffy clashes in this family, thank you very much!
