| 9:12 am | They've got my area under mandatory evacuation because of the hurricane that's coming straight at us Saturday-ish. Hence I will not be around. Natural disasters make me wish I believed in a higher power. And how are you supposed to choose a few things that are most important to you? I never was able to answer that question people used to ask about what one or two things would you save from a fire or want on a deserted island... For now, we're going to my uncle's house on the other side of Houston (on the way to Austin/San Antonio). I guess we'll see from there how much farther we need to go. Gah. |

| 3:15 am | Hurricane update. There's a hurricane headed our way. Well, as of now, the eye is heading for Louisiana again. Currently a category 4. By the time it reaches the Texas/Louisiana coast (Monday-ish), they say it'll be a class 5. Katrina, the hurricane that devastated New Orleans recently was a class 3. My sister is planning on driving to Austin tomorrow or Monday morning. The rest of us will be in Houston still. Send good vibes towards the coast and that hurricane, if you get the chance. I think we'll need the help and I can only hope things don't go as badly as I'm dreading. You always think, "It won't happen here," and since the last tropical storm-almost-hurricane only brought half a day's worth of light rain, it's hard to imagine something worse than that now. But... I'm hoping. If you don't hear from me for a while, you'll know it's because of weather. The rest of you out there, please take care of yourselves whether you're in this area or not.
