... and feel free to disagree, but the Woodcest/rapefic debate is making me uneasy. Whether or not it squicks is irrelevant, but it doesn't really add anything to the focal point of why we're here. Again, just my opinion, but RPS ethics wars are perhaps better suited to fandom_wank or private LJs.
I suppose what I'm saying is that where we stand on the RPS spectrum doesn't matter; what matters is that we're united to varying degrees in our understanding that the True Believer tactics are misguided. It's never been an issue here before, and I don't see why that should change now.
Bottom line is, I'm not angry, but I do have reservations regarding whether the introduction of Comparative RPS Ethics do the debate any justice.

If you're in the UK, or elsewhere and rich/crazy enough to make the trip, there's a big do in Milton Keynes 2-5 May. It's a veritable orgy of LOTR-ness! Billy Boyd! Andy Serkis! John Rhys Davies! Sala Baker! Bloke Who Plays Gamling! Names, names, sweetie, names! There's also some Star Wars/Star Trek/ Buffy peeps too.

Anyway, I'm going. I plan to hold a Domlijah Prayer Meeting in my hotel room. Purple and orangellow candles compulsory, purple robes and hats of tin optional. If you're going, shall we meet up?

Dom was the subject of the '60-Second Interview' in the Metro today (newspaper based in North-West England.) Nothing really juicy, though he talks about his involvement with the tree-planting project in India and something called 'CarbonNeutral.' He does, however, shed some light on his reasons for staying in LA, and his relationship with the Fellowship. Nothing new really, but it'll be interesting to see what DL make of it if it reaches them. Here's a few snippets (don't think I can reproduce the whole article because of copyright laws.)
Interviewer: If you're saving local trees, do you feel quite at home in LA now?
Dom: I enjoy it. I like the weather and the people. The lifestyle choices you make don't seem to be questioned too much. You can get up when you want, go out when you want. Clubs and bars are open all night, it's very easygoing. I've got the beach here, and I like surfing, so in terms of where I want to be and what I want to do in my spare time, LA is a great place to be.
Interviewer: Are you still in touch with the rest of the Fellowship?
Dom: Sure. We made a pact and we all got tattoos and promised to stay in touch, which we do. I saw Ian McKellan a few weeks ago and Billy Boyd I see all the time. Elijah and Viggo live in LA. Orlando is in and out of LA as well, so we all keep in touch.
Doubtless certain DLers will jump like pack-rats over the fact he didn't mention Sean. Interesting how he hinted that he sees Billy more than the others, though.
And on a lighter note - I picked up my copy of SFX today and out fell a lovely Woolies promo leaflet for Signs, complete with guide to making your very own - wait for it - tinfoil hat.
I damn near shit a brick. They're EVERYWHERE!
