See, I don't even know. I just kinda realized that some people might get weirded out when some random person starts drive-by commenting in their journals. I'm only barely aware of how friending works anyway.

Hmmm. I think it is fairly save to assume that it depends. On what people say and stuff. I love having random visitors in my LJ.
And the whole friending implications are so weird and inconsistent that I try not to think much about it.

Eh, don't worry about it. If folks wanted *only* their friends to comment, they should make the journal/entry/whatever friends-only.

Heck, half the time I don't friend folks if I only read their journals occasionally. The only time I'd feel like I *have* to do the friending thing is if the person in question only allows friends to comment.
