More like guidelines...

Am I right in assuming that it's sort of bad form to use someone's real name (first and last) without their permission in a public blog, public figures excluded? I mean it's not bad like posting phone numbers and addresses, but still not kosher?

I have never heard of rules to that effect, I only know it feels weird for me, so I avoid it instinctively. Dunno, maybe it's being shy cause whatever my charming remark might be, it might well end up google-attached to that name, permanently.

See, I'd feel weird too, writing someone's full name. Sometimes in LJ, I've called people by their real first name for emphasis, but these were people who've written posts with that name in it.

This came about because I googled my name (as you do) and found myself in the somewhat recent blog of someone I didn't particularly like in high school. There wasn't anything bad there, I just didn't like having my real name attatched to that journal. The other thing is, I had a nickname of sorts as well. The blogger could have easily used that instead of my name.

I guess I'm just annoyed to have to think about this person again. High school was like 10 years ago.

I shall think about pie instead.
