Was reading over the Hair incident, and one thing that strikes me as being just plain odd with the conversations involved, is... His hair (the one everyone obsesses about!) doesn't strike me as the wash and wear kind.

I mean it's obviously a lot easier than straightening it... And is maximising his natural style.

But I don't get how people can say that it is messy... I just don't.

It's just to me it looks like it has been really obviously styled and although yes... it's called t.v - he strikes me as quite presentable.

I wouldn't find it unusual if a kid/teen/early twenties had hair like that on the streets and would take the assumption that they spend much more time on hair matters than me and are stylish sort of people. which is not hard, as the only hair matters I worry about are great big clumping knots, tying it back into a bun/ponytail, and cleanliness. D:


He looks just a bit too young for my tastes, but add on a few years and. HAWT.

Now if they were late twenties +, I would find it unusual, but that's because most people of that age that use gel on a regular basis go for a completely different sort of look. ;>.>

Which could be a tie in to the whole racism/professionalism that is ingrained... But it is also true that there are certain looks that are considered presentable in certain jobs - and the aim is to be a uniform as possible without actually wearing a uniform and yes it sucks that means however the dominant group is - who you aim to look like. D:



I could certainly understand if people were concerned if he (fab!hair!musical!boy) was working with food - but that can easily be contained in a hat or hair net and he can go back to that hair style when not working.

(My youngest sister Ren. Totally obsessed with her hair. Especially when stressed - she uses it to relax and may spend over an hour straightening, gelling, carefully arranging and all that shit.

It was really funny from my perspective when she was working with fast food and she'd have just finished her hair when she'd get a last min call to go in - and have to completely redo it it so it was tied up. XD


So I can totally understand why people may find it amusing to mock people's hair, but from what I gathered it wasn't just one joke and moving on it's an entire pattern... And just from the wank along it's clear that there is so much more to mock with a "so bad it's good" kind of show!)

ETA: One thing though. People who have long hair do get it stroked a lot, and yes as a fetish, it's very common.

But if you cut your hair, you usually don't need to worry about it. There are some issues, but if you have really long hair - but as long as it's out of the way, it's usually not an issue... Which is not the case for a few ethnic groups... And as this situation shows, even people who obviously take good care of their hair, get targeted as being messy. D:


I'll file this as one of those situations in which. People Are Weird.
