If blocking images actually makes a difference with bandwidth?

I think they still get pinged but don't get fully loaded...


;.; I miss icons but I'll miss JF more so... Just trying to figure out ways to reduce bandwidth for now.

ETA: Disable thread unfolder for JF as well.

Hmm. I might not enable that one back here however much I love it.

  When images are hosted on the JF servers, blocking them makes a difference to JF's bandwidth. Blocking icons will likely help.

    *nod* I know if it's hosted on photobucket it doesn't make a difference here, I'm blocking all JF images at the moment with

    Just I remember being told that images will still be hit as part of the document it is more on the browser end that you don't see them.

      I believe with Firefox, if you put JF on the block list, it just ignores img tags.

      I think Adblock might actually not block the picture from uploading, just from being shown (I think I've sometimes seen the images I've got blocked flash before being removed when my computer is going slow), so it still takes up bandwidth. . .But you can hop to the Firefox settings, go to content, and disable automatic image loading there.

  If you block images, they'll just skip the "img" tags and refuse to download the image file to display.

    Just apparently it hits each comment it unfolds as a new page... It might be easier for the really big threads to just open it in a new tab.
    
    *shrugs* I was reading through the f_w flist and apparently JF is going to go over it's server limits, and the more it goes over the more it costs, so I wanted to help cut down.
    
    I'll be turning icons back on after September the 1st when it all resets.
