[fanart] So, I watched Tokyo Mew Mew This was an impulsive thing. I should at some point draw Mint/Zakuro, which is a great couple, but...well, I already know that there's a nonzero amount of Mint/Zakuro fanart and whatnot on the internets, but if there is Aoyama/Ichigo/Kish fanart out there already, I have not found it. SO I MADE SOME. Just to get it out of my system. Yeah, so somewhere around the middle of MewMew, I could no longer completely withstand the impulse to ship the magical girl with her rival magical girl (even if the rival magical girl was a boy, and also kind of a creep most of the time--although at least he didn't get away with it and spent most of the time failing hard while Ichigo regularly kicked him in the crotch and scratched him in the face...Zakuro punching him that one time was also awesome ). And aside from that, MewMew is probably more like Ouran HC in many ways than something like Sailor Moon, so you might as well take the reverse harem thing and go with it. (Ichigo is after all such a harem lead that she even has multiple love interests from other freaking species, and I still can't believe the show went there.) Aoyama still has his Deep Blue hair and ears here, because they looked good on him and surely you could come up with a handwavey explanation for him still being able to take on that form, even if he and Ichigo got rid of the Deep Blue side of his personality. And in conclusion, I suppose that making sense of this picture would take either a long-ish story with a plot or a short one with sex pollen (or whatever that drug is that they give laboratory rats that makes them cuddle up together). But I believe it could be done. ( I'd have to call it Not Worksafe, even if no one's completely naked and they're all at least nearly asleep ) | | Wednesday, May 4th, 2011 | | 7:21 am |
[fanart] Now a bit of Naruto, of all things And this is another one that's been lying around unfinished for the longest time. I need to catch up on Naruto, and also Bleach, Psyren, all the shonen stuff, one of these days. I do mean to. But anyhow, I did this after reading that amazing fight between Sakura and Sasori just after the time skip. This is my natural reaction to any two characters who try to kill each other. But it's not just me! I looked up Sasori on Gelbooru and there's a surprising amount (a nonzero amount, which was surprising to me) of Sakura/Sasori stuff, and a lot of it very pretty. So this is...tentacle porn and hatesex? In a tree? And because Sasori's body works more like a vacuum cleaner than anything made out of flesh, the pose makes even less sense at a glance than usual. (His head is rotated 180 degrees and one arm is ripped off. Otherwise EVERYTHING IS PERFECTLY NORMAL.) Also, even though Sasori is an insensible puppet, I imagine a dagger in that one piece of his original flesh that he still has together with Sakura's amazing medic-nin abilities could still manage to make him feel more or less whatever she wanted him to (I'm just sayin.) [fanart] Star Trek Enterprise, of all things It's actually been forever since I did most of this drawing and more than forever since I watched the show, but early this morning I figured I might as well finish it, for fun (and it was :D). Anyhow, I was over on 4chan a while back (it is a wretched hive of scum and villainy, but in its defense--if it weren't for /u/ I'd never have tried Madoka...or at least not for a while) and someone on /y/ posted looking for some Shran/Soval. Now, this is something I'd have liked to see too (you have a whole episode about them getting up in each others' faces and then Shran just up and kidnapping Soval and handcuffing him to a chair and this whole long emotional scene with shouting and weeping and...and there's no porn of this anywhere on the internet? HOW CAN THIS BE.) so I attempted to do what other people do so easily on 4chan, and just whip out a fast drawing of some couple on request. But I don't do fast, I'm terrible at doing fast unless I'm under dire threat of a deadline...and so this was sitting around my computer for the longest time, and...anyhow. I finally finished it! And Rule 34 is appeased. (So am I, for that matter--I could still go for fic of this, if it existed.) ( Not Remotely Worksafe ) | | Sunday, January 23rd, 2011 | | 12:18 am |
Having just seen episode 3 of Madoka Magica, let me just say Yeah, so I didn't end up watching episode 3 until just now, so...really, I have to say this somewhere.
JESUS CHRIST little moe magical girl anime show, what the FUCK was that?
Well, dammit, now I have to see what happens next. This is nothing like Nanoha or even Simoun. Not in that there aren't ambiguously gay magical girls, of course. No, Madoka's utterly unlike them in that there seem to be people involved in this show who can actually draw, y'know. And with cool design ideas. Good design ideas for BRAIN SCARRING NIGHTMARE FUEL. (Clowns. Why did it have to be clowns.) | | Friday, January 14th, 2011 | | 11:30 pm |
[fanart] A one stop shop for all your gay magical girl needs (Madoka fanart) So this isn't Heartcatch fanart. Not because I don't anticipate doing more of that in the future; I'm sort of waiting to see exactly how canon's going to screw me on that front. Will Dark Cure and Cure Moonlight be turned into the same person? Will they turn out to be sisters? Will Dark Cure just die in the end, or will she die and go on to be reincarnated as Moonlight's sister (or daughter!--I went so far as to try watching Yamibou recently--dear god, that was one seriously screwed up ending). Not gonna lie, I'll probably still ship it even if one party turns out to be anything from a distant relative to a clone to nothing but a figment of the other's imagination, but damn, with Death Note the worst that canon could do to you was kill everyone involved; yuri pairings seem to get stuck with a whole other level of 'But it's okay, because one of these characters was really a squirrel the whole time!' utterly bizarre ways to Joss ships. Anyhow, this is fanart of another pair of rival magical girls! Or at the very least, one magical girl who is sweetness and light in the Usagi mold and another who is the transfer student who glowers forebodingly at her and whose intentions are as yet unknown. The series is called Madoka Magica, and this is fanart for that show and two of its characters on the strength of all of two episodes out so far. (I know, I know.) And dammit, I don't care for moe character designs at all, but for a moe-looking show this has some darn interesting art direction. Madoka's home town looks like it was designed to its last detail by Norman Foster (or at least, the places where she goes to school and to hang out with her friends--all these massive glass and steel megastructures, and at least one bridge that really is a direct takeoff from Foster's Millenium Bridge) and the magical girls' attacks seem to make reality itself melt. Basically, I'm already hoping this will be Nanoha, only with much cooler art direction, better story, and less disturbing fanservice. (Not that I don't still love Nanoha in spite of itself.) Just to give you an idea of how interesting the show itself looks, most of what's in this fanart is a version of something seen in the actual show--the exit sign, the glass and steel, the collage-look when magic happens, etc. etc. (And the cat-rabbit thing is the show mascot, and based on what's happened in the show so far, he may or may not be evil. ) ( Safe for work ) | | Friday, December 3rd, 2010 | | 12:11 am |
Yuritoday now exists! Just in case anyone's interested, there's now an actual anime/manga counterpart to femslash_today (which for a while there wasn't, which was a shame), yuritoday. :D It's a general daily digest of all anime/manga fandom f/f or yuri content, which you can watch if you're interested in seeing what's going on with f/f fanwork and whatnot in animanga fandoms generally. (As you might notice, I'm helping with posting over there.) Also, if you know of any yuri-related community that they ought to be watching over there and as yet aren't, or might be interested in helping out, the list of watched comms and the post where you can let them/us know what we've missed is here. In conclusion, this is a cat in a bathing costume. | | Thursday, October 28th, 2010 | | 9:26 am |
[fanart] More Heartcatch yuri, don't mind me I remember that the last season of Sailor Moon (the anime, at least) ended with the final boss being defeated by Usagi taking all her clothes off and embracing her. It seems like a time-honored way to respond to your enemies in magical girl shows, really, so... ( Not worksafe, though it's mostly just a big pile of leaves and flowers. )The anime shows the Heart Tree with plain roundish leaves as I remember, but if it's supposed to be the source of all the many many different species of Heart Flower that we see in the show, it would make sense to me for the Heart Tree to have all sorts of differently shaped leaves. | | Saturday, October 23rd, 2010 | | 11:53 pm |
[fanart] Again Okay, just getting this out of my system. Moar Dark Cure/Cure Moonlight. ( This time it's worksafe )They have this epic battle in episode 34 of Heartcatch, and Moonlight wins after one of those Old West type faceoffs where the shot rings out and then there's a long moment when you're waiting to see which gunslinger actually falls. Moonlight actually looks concerned at this point, but before she can do anything, Dark Cure gets scooped up by one of the other bad guys and carried away. Actually, Dark Cure gets picked up a lot in episode 34 (mainly because Moonlight spends most of the episode kicking her ass :D)--it seemed only fair to me to let Moonlight get in on the action. Even if this might not be the best idea right after you've (apparently) run your opponent through with some sort of spikes of purple light and she's passed out on the ground (Quick, move her spine around!). | | Wednesday, October 20th, 2010 | | 5:17 am |
[fanart] Anyone else been watching Heartcatch Precure? Hi! Once again, not dead, etc. I had a bit of free time between projects lately, and decided to look up a few magical girl series. I watched Nanoha for the first time--I enjoyed it; mostly I enjoyed the third and longest season...the third and longest season having a relatively high ratio of actual plot to disturbing lolicon fanservice. Nanoha and Fate are almost as gay as Haruka and Michiru, and they blow things up a lot! :D Then I looked up Heartcatch Precure, which is an ongoing series, and it is cheerful and adorable (almost Princess Tutu or Chi's Sweet Home levels of adorable, even). And, also, yeah, while the younger Cures are haring around in the foreground of the story being fun and hilarious, there's also Dark Precure and there's Cure Moonlight, who are older girls, and they're in the background beating the crap out of each other and having pretty badass epic battles and being obsessive arch-nemeses in that way that gives off powerfully slashy vibes. (Or it does to me and a few thousand doujinshi artists.) ( Cut for NWS Dark PreCure/Yuri (Cure Moonlight) smut--although it's not that blatant. )Dark Cure has that one gold eye which seems to work something like Cyclops' eyes in X-men, such that she's always got it closed unless she's trying to kill someone. (Or...trying to kill a tiny hamster-like baby fairy with huge eyes or a big flowering tree--she probably clubs baby seals, too.) I'm assuming in this case either that she actually -can- open that eye without destroying everything she looks at, if she so chooses, or if not, that Yuri (Cure Moonlight's alter-ego, who spends the first two-thirds or more of the series having lost her powers because Dark Precure nearly killed her--and YET she still goes out to fight Dark Precure with her bare hands on at least one occasion, because she's just that fearless and hardcore--and this would be why I drew Yuri and Dark Cure rather than Yuri-transformed-into-Cure Moonlight and Dark Cure) is somehow preventing her from...with...yeah. Anyhow. I don't remember if there's an entry in that old list of Things I will Not Do if I Am Ever the Evil Overlord about having sex with your arch-nemesis, but if there is, it would be entirely in keeping with the ethos of the Precure villains to break that rule, too, because they've probably broken every other rule on that list so far--which is not to say that I mind, really, any more than a person minds that the Stormtroopers in Star Wars have bad aim. | | Wednesday, April 28th, 2010 | | 4:31 pm |
New issue of SSBB is out now. :) HAI. Yes, so the excellent folks at Shousetsu Bang Bang have put out another issue, themed Historical Romance. Their stories are always quality, and good clean fun--I recommend you check it out. I did them up a cover for this issue based roughly on this old photo. 1950s existentialist kids at the Cafe de Flore, that sort of thing. (WE HAVE ALWAYS BEEN GAY MARXIST EXISTENTIALISTS.) I put it on DA here, too, where it's the original slightly larger size. | | Tuesday, October 20th, 2009 | | 7:19 pm |
HOLY SHIT, SON So, how come no one ever told me there was an early 1960s movie where Shirley Maclaine and Audrey Hepburn play a lesbian couple? I mean, yeah, okay, [spoilers] in canon it's one-sided romantic love on the part of Shirley Maclaine's character, but still. Audrey Hepburn's character still asked her to go away with her in the end! And even after the inevitable AWFUL TRAGIC ending that I dared to hope wouldn't happen...happened anyway in the last five minutes, I was at least glad that Audrey Hepburn's character got to walk off on her own with her head held high, mourning her maybe-friend-maybe-could-have-been-more, and specifically NOT ending up back with her fiance for some traditional ~all's well that ends well~ 50s movie ending.[spoilers] Seriously, though. Even if this is probably one of the original examples people cite for evidence of the dead lesbian trope in film, and I'm probably a huge n00b for never having heard of it before, I was kind of stoked to see it just now. I love Shirley Maclaine and I love Audrey Hepburn; they're two of my very favorite actresses from that time period. This is why Turner Classic Movies is great. This and the Harold Pinter BDSM, incest, and class warfare flicks. | | Wednesday, July 29th, 2009 | | 5:14 pm |
Rec So, I've just started reading through the femslash-big-bang-otherwise-known-as thelittlebang fics that've been posted, and I fell in love with the first one I read. It's Grimm's Fairy Tales fic, Briar Rose/Snow White, entitled Memories of You Being Beautiful, and it's just great. | | Tuesday, July 28th, 2009 | | 2:43 am |

O HAY Hey, hey, check it out. So...anyone (who hasn't already signed up) want to write an original f/f story for the Shousetsu Bang Bang yuri special? :D? :D? (If you're unfamiliar with SSBB you should look up their last yuri special, which was awesome--or any of their recent m/m issues, they're all lots of fun.) Signups at the link. | | Sunday, January 4th, 2009 | | 10:35 pm |

[not fanart art] porn + building So I was flipping through a book the other day that said the ancient Romans were even more hung up and repressed about fellatio than they were about any kind of penetrative sex. Though cunninlingus was apparently considered even more ~*~horribly shameful~*~ than fellatio. Which is to say, one of these days my repression kink would demand I should draw some het toga porn. And then I should read about Roman lesbians and do some of that too. Greek lesbians would be awesome too...though what I've read about Sappho and her whole school sounds kind of depressingly like a BAD END schoolgirl yuri. :( (For my next trick, I will read this book from cover to cover and then tell you all about it. I'm probably kidding. Actually, the guy who wrote that book gave a talk on it at my school years ago when I was in undergrad, I still remember goggling at the printed flyers on the wall. Something about the phrase "first truly democratic sexuality" sticks in your mind.) Anyhow, I drew more porn. And a building. ( Very very not worksafe ) | | Friday, December 19th, 2008 | | 6:50 am |
If you pledge your soul, you'll get a Satan tote bag! God, I love MST3K. | | Tuesday, December 16th, 2008 | | 9:57 pm |
WHY THE HELL AM I WATCHING STRAWBERRY PANIC I really don't know. (...okay, that's a lie. I'm probably watching it for the same reasons everyone else watches it.)So, in this scene from episode 13, which I have screencapped for your viewing pleasure (yes, these subtitles are all real), a tall dark bishoujo has just backed a little moeblob into a corner. "MUAHAHAHAHAHA YES, MY DEAR, THERE IS NO ESCAPE." *twirls mustaches* ( 'Now hold still while I explain the hoax of global warming to you.' ('OH GOD, NO, ANYTHING BUT THAT!') ) |
