If you just asked me a question about my default icon and I linked you here –

Hi! Yeah, I loved this icon too, and I asked the person I saw using it if I could take it too. They told me what it was from, but I promptly forgot it. And then forgot it the next couple times someone else asked and then another someone else answered for me.

So when [info]frequentmouse answered yet again here, I decided to copy the answer and paste it here:

Gaudy Night by Dorothy Sayers; the conversation about ducks breaks a rather fraught verbal dance around Lord Peter's feelings about Harriet Vane, taking place in a punt on the Cher.

Huzzah!

GAH. I knew I recognised it from somewhere!

(How sad/bizarre is it that at least two of my fandoms have notable quotes and/or running gags about ducks?)

What's the other one??

(I'm planning to suggest a 'ducks' panel for con.txt next year, see, so I'm collecting duck-infested fandoms.)

Good Omens (for which I don't have an icon, inexplicably, so Susan here will have to do). Crowley and Aziraphale (along with clandestine agents from various governments) like to feed the ducks in St James's Park, and Crowley occasionally sinks them.
The ducks in St James's Park are so used to being fed bread by secret agents meeting clandestinely that they have developed their own Pavlovian reaction. Put a St James's Park duck in a laboratory cage and show it a picture of two men -- one usually wearing a coat with a fur collar, the other something sombre with a scarf -- and it'll look up expectantly.

DUCKS!!

([info]queencallipygos, sorry for hijacking you post. I could have sworn I was still on the random_lounge post. Also, your icon makes me smile every time I see it.)
