I blame totallybalanced for reminding me of the cute boys of Lord of The Rings, so I'm now watching The Two Towers/The Return of The King and compulsively pushing the pause button to stare at Karl Urban, Viggo Mortensen and my secret lover David Wenham (♥♥) whose film "Better than Sex" will be playing in my DVD in a few hours (me thinks.).

Update about Canadian visa

I was reading on the newspaper about the misadventures of those who had already applied for a Visa to visit Canada.

First, the Canadian staff was clueless of what to do, no protocols were set so each person handled things differently. Second, all the interviews were held in English as most of the consuls don't know how to speak Spanish, the results were misunderstandings everywhere. Third, because of the misunderstandings people complained of the staff being elitist and racist because most of the consuls rushed the interviews and ended them abruptly (I would say it was desperation). Fourth, most of the applications were rejected and visas were denied; statistically the percentage of denied visas is bigger than that of the American which denies visas to almost anyone (of 200 applications just 15 visas were issued). ETA: Fifth: Applications had to be filled in English or French. Just as reference, in the American Embassy the application has to be filled in Spanish.

The main reason to deny visa was that people failed to demonstrate they are financially capable, surprisingly they denied the visa to the son of the third richest man in the country for that reason.

I think that the main problem is that there are no protocols and the Embassy staff don't speak Spanish and even if many here speak English it seems that everyone was confused about what to do.

The Canadian government said that the Mexican government has known about the visa application for a while but is The Canadian government to decides when to start this policy so I think that if it is chaos is because their lacked planning.

I feel for those who need to get the visa.

ETA 2: The same is happening to the Czech but at least they have dignity because they removed their Ambassador and are asking visas to Canadian diplomats traveling to The Czech Republic, I think we should do the same.

The requisites to apply for a Canadian visa are:

1. Go to www.canada.org.mx to get the application.

2. Send the application by certificated mail or courier.

3. Passport has to be issued at least 6 months before application.

4. Payment of $75CA to get a one entry visa or $150 to apply for a multiple entry one. (non-refundable if your visa is denied)

5. Have to justify that your visit is temporal and that you have motive to come back to Mexico (like having a job here or leaving your little children with grandparents, etc)

6. Bank statements that show your financial solvency to support your stay in Canada.

7. Health certificate.

8. Certificate of non criminal records (God knows who issues this one!)

Canadian government has mad an statement saying that the "imposition" is due to the high number of Mexicans that have applied as refugees. Some analysts says there are darker motives. Who knows!

The visa will be effective next Thursday and this requisites were known just yesterday at night.

What has angered the Mexican people is the fact that Canadians won't need a visa to visit Mexico!. Which is just stupid, this kind of things are both ways.

Canada imposes visa to Mexican citizens

For ages Mexican had free transit in that country as they do in all the European Union and other countries.

The decision was made yesterday so you can imagine the chaos going in the Canadian Embassy right now. People gathering there is expecting to travel this week and even if those traveling today and tomorrow will be granted access without visa it won't happen to those traveling on Thursday.

The bad thing is that only the Canadian Embassy in Mexico City is issuing the visas so those leaving outside this city are the most affected because they need to travel to Mexico City to get it. Travel agencies are denying refunding of airplane tickets, hotel reservations, tours, etc because this is nothing that has to do with them.

Canadian government stated that the reason to implement this is because there are a huge number of Mexicans who travel to Canada as tourists only to stay there indefinitely. I agree that the government has to do whatever it takes to protect their citizens' interests but I think they should've given time to those who had already planned a visit to apply for the visa and in more designated places (Canadian consulates) than the Embassy itself.

One of the things that were good for Canada was that many Mexicans used their Intl Airports to connect to Asia and Northern Europe, now many Mexicans will better apply for the American visa, which lasts 10 years and buy a ticket of an American airline which is cheaper.

Canadian visa will be a "one visit only" and to apply you have to justify you have enough money and a ticket back, also, if you travel to Canada frequently you have to apply each time you need to visit.

I think is a loss for both countries, Canadians will be needing a Mexican visa to visit too but our rules will be lighter which is something we criticize our government for.

James' appearance in Monster Mania is "in doubt"

I was unaware about James making an appearance at Monster Mania. Anyway, today I found an email from James' news list about a party take will take place there. I won't discuss the fact that I think that $200 for a party is really out of proportion, what is really strange is the following email from Steve Himbert:

As many of you may have seen, the organizer of Monster Mania has posted a disclaimer regarding the private party that Himber Ent. is organizing on behalf of James for his scheduled weekend there. Until this matter is resolved satisfactorily, we will be holding off on the reservation process. Once matters have been cleared up, we will again give advanced notice for reservations. Sorry for this inconvenience.

I would strongly suggest that anyone making plans to attend Monster Mania solely because of James' scheduled appearance take a beat until we confirm all details.

Again, thank you for your patience and understanding.

Then the Monster Mania forum has this thread which has "JAMES MARSTERS APPEARANCE IN DOUBT" as subject.

I emailed Steve Himber directly when I was first made aware of the private party that he had scheduled during our event, unknown to me. I still have not received a reply directly from him but because of the message shown above, I would say that at this time it appears that Mr. Marsters is no longer commited to attending the show. I have instructed our webmaster to remove his name from the website until matters are cleared up. We certainly don't want to mislead anyone about his appearance. If it turns out that he will definitely not be appearing at the event, we will gladly offer a refund to anyone who purchased a ticket specifically to see Mr. Marsters.ETA2-Added by MM recently: Hopefully Mr. Marsters will not disappoint the fans who had planned to see him at Monster-Mania simply because he cannot have the $10,000 private party. We have offered Mr. Marsters time in our main event room where he can spend time with many fans, as the other stars who attend Monster-Mania do.

I don't think is nice to make a party without the organizing of the main event knowing, I'm sure that the organizer is angry cause as this is a separated event he won't get anything ($$) from it.

I hope no one in my friend list is affected if James cancels which I think is what I would do if I was the organizer.

Yes, Mr. Davies and Mr. Whedon are both evil.

After making their audience investing so much in the characters they just kill them.

I still can't believe that Ianto is gone, and even if I want him resurrected I doubt Mr. Davies will do it (and trust me, I hope I'm very wrong). This reminds me of Joss killing Tara in BTVS' S6, it was crude and harsh.

Jack's reaction to Ianto's agony reminded me another Whedon moment "No you don't, but thanks for saying it".

I think the reason why everyone had a huge reaction to Day 4 is because Russel is like Josh, a mastermind who plays the audience's feelings like a violin. I don't know what will happen in Day 5 and I don't know if it will be as intense as yesterday but I'm sure he was delighted to have caused such commotion.

Anyway, I never thought I was going to feel such strong feelings towards Ianto and the Ianto/Jack ship and I feel let down because the emotional investment from my part was huge and I really didn't notice how much until yesterday. I have to congratulate Russell for that but I have to let him know that I hated Joss for a while so he can expect my dislike for a little bit even if he justifies this death or resurrects Ianto. My heart was broken yesterday and I'm a woman so I have to dislike the man who broke it.

My mother and I arrived around 8:30am in order to vote early, there were two polling sections, one for those whose last name was between A-Lop and those whose last names was between Loq-Z. The sections were divided, again, in two part. One local and one federal.

In Mexico City we are going to vote for Federal Representative (Diputado Federal in Spanish), for Local Representative (Diputado Local in Spanish) and Delegado (A Delegado is the chief of office at our Delegacion which is like a county for those in the US). Mexico city is divided in 16 Delegaciones.

After arriving we were directed to the queue for local voting, we were given two ballots, after voting our right thumb was marked with ink. Then we went to queue to get the ballot for Federal Representative and we found out that two poll officials, who were supposed to look for your in the list, didn't arrive. The other officials were inviting people to replace them but all declined. The boot can't open if the those officials are not present so we couldn't vote.

We left and went to have breakfast, we returned around 10am and found the booth open. It looked like party observers (each party has the right to have an observer in each voting location) helped the officials with the searching.

This is the ballot for Federal Representative, you can see the local and federal ballots are different.

Finally my thumb was marked again, this time in the lower part of my finger. According to the Electoral code the ink mark for federal voting should have be placed on the top of my thumb and the ink mark of the local voting in the lower part. I had them applied the other way around. :)

Now, we just have to wait and see what the results will be. It looks that 70% of the voters won't vote and of those voting, 2% will vote in blank as a protest because they couldn't find a candidate whose ideas and propositions they liked.

I went to Starbucks yesterday and after ordering a Frapuccino Green Tea with light and lactose-free milk I was told it wasn't possible as the final result would be awful. Is not the first time I order that combination so I told the barista and he said that, and I quote, "Had been lied or fooled because that combination is impossible". I then asked the other barista "Hey pal! Have you lied or fooled me before? Cause it's you the one who prepared my Frapuccino Geen Tea the other day!". The guy's cheeks turned into a nice shade of red but the case is that they did it the way I asked and to be honest I was "lied and fooled" the first time cause this one tasted horrible. Starbucks' policy says that if you don't like the mix they have to do it again, of course, this time they refused as they had warned me before about the final result BUT as the barista who "lied and fooled" me the previous time didn't accept nor denied to have cheated then I was able to call the manager in charge and explain him the situation.

They still refused to make the new mix but they gave me my money back. I think that is against their policy but this particular franchise seems to break the rules quite frequently.

Am I the only one?

I have to loose some weight, nothing drastic but I'm about 5 kilos off the weight I should have. I have a stationary cycle which helps me a lot but the thing is that doing cardio makes me catch a cold easily, maybe is because I sweat too much and my body can't handle that, anyway, I think that maybe doing some yoga and other type of exercises will help me to stay fit without getting sick and Wii Fit looks versatile enough to accomplish that.

So, who uses it? Or do you have any feedback about it? Should I get one?

I have read so many wonderful posts from those in my friend list that I'm intimidated about writing my own without being redundant and boring, that is why I rather use the events in episode 11 to speculate the future of our heroes.

I really like the arc Elle has got. The way Noah has planted this seed of doubt that I think will grow and make her change sides. Yes, I do believe that Elle will work for the good guys in the future. The way she looked at Mohinder when expressed his gratitude for saving their lives. Elle doesn't know what affection means, she doesn't know about empathy and human affection, if she gets this she will have her humanity and therefore, she will fight the Company.

I don't know if there is a plan to conflict Noah and Claire, he has stuck to his promise to protect his family no matter what and Claire is determined to stop running, maybe her idea wasn't bad, but look what happened to Nathan. I think that Claire will work on the background, first to liberate her father from the company and indirectly, or not, helping to save the world. I believe that Claire will be the target of the Company and I think we will see Noah struggling to keep her safe and trying to keep his sanity because of his work at the Company. Besides, did he shoot Nathan? Was this his first task after returning? Wouldn't it be logical that he got rid of his little girl's biological father? Imagine this as another point of conflict between him and Claire. And before I forget, are Claire and West over? Will he be returning for Volume 3 or not. I have to admit that I as skeptical about this relationship because it came out of nowhere but I have learned to love West because of his devotion for Claire and because he was there when it counted.

Peter's arc got weak, I really think that way, I disliked the part where he hooked up with Caitlin for all the none reasons, there wasn't anything in the plot to support this relationship other than physical attraction and gratitude from his part. Anyway, this is not enough and for me that love story was totally irrelevant and was something used to make the 40 minute per episode mark. Other thing is that Peter is a good hearted fellow, I love him for that and I think he is the idealist of the team but his arc have made him look naive and weak which is not what it should be. Maybe it is because the strike and how the last two episodes were written but I feel like his blind trust for Adam was against his nature. There was doubt after meeting Hiro at Primatech's facility in Texas but he could have figured out many things for himself and be more cautious.

Micah and Monica are a good team even if Micah's arc hasn't grown at all, Monica, on the other hand, is a fresh character with a huge potential for the plot. There is a certain level of idealism that I love and there are good intentions, I hope she is wiser than Peter in that sense. I still wish to know if their grandmother has powers because I do feel she know more than we can see.

Angela Petrelli is a huge mystery and I love her to death because she is ambiguous. I do believe she had an affair with Adam but I wouldn't put my money in the theory that one of her sons is also Adam's. I wish we could have learned more about her past and how she interacted with Adam and Linderman, also, what her power is? I also would love to know what her status at the Company is, was she talking with Bob when she was watching the news about her son being shoot, she is still inside the Company and very active in it.

Hiro's arc wasn't that good during this volume, I still think they wasted too much time in the feudal Japan plot. I agree that this helped to develop Adam's character but didn't help Hiro's arc that much. Maybe is because Hiro and Ando are exciting together and somehow this was missed due to the Ando staying in the present and doing nothing but linking the viewer with Hiro's time travel story. Anyway, the way he dealt with Adam was brilliant, letting him inside the coffin is a fair way to get rid of the evilness that Adam is... not that it will last because I don't think that somebody that has lived for that long will end like this.

Adam Monroe was a great addition to the show. He wasn't a good person at all, he changed because he was given a purpose but not because he had a change of heart, he told Hiro that he was his inspiration the one that made him a Hiro and the one that betrayed him by falling in love with the same woman he loved (personally I don't think Adam loved her, it was part of his destiny nothing more). I think that what he had been done for 400 years has affected the present. He was the leader of the first generation of heroes until helast locked by Kaito so he knows as much as the company as Bob does.

And talking about Bob Bishop, is he that bad? or he is just obsessed with the Company? I think it's a combination of both, but still I feel that Angela turns the wheel in a huge way inside the Company. Bob doesn't love Elle, for him she is just a tool and I think (and hope) he will pay dearly for it in the future. I also think he moved the location of the virus without Linderman and Angela knowing so I don't think the virus thing is over.

Mohinder... he confuses me and I have to say that is one of the characters that has managed to frustrate me. Did he sale his soul to the devil (the Company)? Is he that stupid to do that? He's not an idealistic as Peter is, Mohinder has daddy issues and he is not naive. I agree that he is also a good boy but he has gone through some experiences in the past that should've prepared him for a difficult decision. Besides, as much as he can believe that the Company is there to help he can't possible not realize that they are not white hats, all he has to do is look at his surroundings and see how the Company runs its simplest affairs. Still, I love how he loves Molly and how he and Matt are trying hard to keep her safe and help her.

Matt, I love him and how he struggles because I do believe that he has tendency to be ambiguous. Remember his confrontation with Angela and how he read her mind? Matt is a good guy but he can loose control of the situation and that leads to Matt doing all the wrong things for the right reasons. One particular thing that I have liked a lot is how he and Nathan are working as a team. Fangirl squee aside they both make sense together and they complete each other well, some sort of an Ando/Hiro team but different in style and personality.

Maya, I'm so sorry for her, she is the one that was naive and she paid her excess of trust with her brother's death. I think she will generate a lot of attention from the company because of her power. If the virus was indeed destroyed then she can provide a new biological weapon and this time Alejandro is not there to provide the antidote.

Sylar, it looks like my dear boy will provide the badness in the next Volume, I flirt with the idea that he somehow meets Adam. That would be awesome! Sylar has a tendency of thinking that he is part of an elite of human beings, he has made it clear in the past and that goes very well with Adam's ideas of cleaning the planet and just allowing some gifted individuals to live. If they team up then we will see more of the virus, as I said previously the virus was removed or Maya's virus will be the new big bad.

Now the sad part... what happened to Niki and Nathan? Do you think they're gone for good? I don't think so, I believe that Niki will return, remember that anguish brings out Jessica and maybe she will survive as Jessica with Niki hidden inside. I have to accept that I liked Niki better when her arc was linked with DL's, his death was sad and to certain level was frustrating because he could've had a better storyline than the one in S1. I think she has a great chemistry with Nathan and I would love to see a plot between the two of them, hopefully that will happen in the future.

Nathan is not dead, I mean, after saving Noah with Claire's blood I think he will survive or returned to live. Nathan is a popular character and having him killed off this way should be a little bit lame at this moment, why? Because Nathan is a natural leader and the show needs one to balance the individual power among the heroes that it has generated. Besides, I think he will be the one that will bring out his mother's secrets out. The thing I want to make clear is that if he doesn't return I won't stop watching the show, I love Nathan and I would be pissed off if he dies for good but still, I love the whole cast and I will keep watching.

I know I'm leaving out too many things but I will try to post them when they come to me. For example, I wish to know the power of Kaito Nakamura and I wonder if he will return. I also wonder what part will Ando play because so far I think his storyline has suffered a lot.

What a nice surprise! I just opened my email and found an announcement of James' groups saying that he has been casted in a recurring role in "Without a Trace". It made me smile that he will be Detective Mars. :) Will this detective be related to another teenage detective in Neptune, CA?

I guess my mom will be pleased, she watches the show and I do from time to time because I like Eric Close since I saw him first in The Magnificent Seven. Of course, Anthony LaPlagia is another good reason.

Shadow Puppets the movie

I've just finished watching Shadow Puppets...

As expected, not a good movie but a watchable one. Tony Todd is amazing (he got the best parts) and James does a great job considering that the script is not something out of this world. Mom watched with me and was pleased, I guess that the great part about the movie is that you can see James in light clothing and a bunch of girls also in light clothing with the big plus of one gratuitous nude scene. Oh! and I figured out before it was revealed that the machine was... overused and that the math says that 8 doesn't equal 9. The ending per se was blah but the previous scenes that showed the faith that many of the characters suffered was good. I think that James' character got the best twist of the story because I expected other character to suffer it.

Anyway, as I said first, not a good movie and if you ask me it doesn't compensate the price you pay for it but well, James is in it and that is enough for a James fan like myself. I hope that his character in PS I love you is good enough so he can get offered tons of roles so he can choose the bests. :)

I have spent the last 30 minutes reading my friends/friends list in both, livejournal and insanejournal. I may sound dumb but is very interesting, I have seen that there are another people in the fandom whose journals I really like. I don't know why I didn't do it before.

In other news, is very unfortunate that Brad Fitzpatrick is leaving LJ/6A, and I say unfortunate because he couldn't have left in worst times. I'm sure this is not the debacle of Lj but certainly his departure can be interpreted as he doesn't like the way 6A is administering LJ. It is a possibility that he doesn't like it, I certainly wouldn't if I were him but that doesn't mean that he is completely against 6A either. Of course, the drama goes on and on and there wasn't a clarifying post from lj_biz as promised.

I got a perm account two years ago so leaving is not something I would like to consider as an option but that doesn't mean that I think that LJ/6A has been user oriented while handling situations that concern us, on the contrary, the more they need to come out and give explanations just to show that they value their users (many of whom have given a considerable amount of money to them) the more they seem to hide. I just hope that they don't activate the abuse feature before having their TOS fixed to every user can understand it without doubt, if they do I would certainly believe that 6A is full of crap. Anyway, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt because this time, it wasn't their fault.

In the meantime I have backed up my journal outside lj and I plan to update my backup journals frequently. Insanejournal seems to be the one that will become my serious backup, greatestjournal is slow but I will post my public entries there too, journalfen is not really attractive and it is really expensive but I'll also post my public entries there too.
