OK, this is probably due to the onset of Watchmen-mania that we now have upon us due to the release of the trailer last month...but I had a long string of Watchmen-related dreams last night. They all seemed to center around an alternate universe where something happened to the original Silk Spectre for some reason, and Rorschach ended up training and mentoring a teenage Laurie/Silk Spectre II. The dreams were all about their adventures and conflicts as a part of this arrangement.

I know, WEIRD right? 0_0 "Personality conflict" doesn't even begin to describe it. Oh well...here's some other stuff that I haven't put up here yet...

And it took me all of two seconds to make these once I figured out how.

FUCK IT! WE DO IT LIVE OVER 9000!

Well, I went with the parents last night. And aside from wanting to throttle the asshole and his stupid lolicon jailbait girlfriend who wouldn't stop talking behind us (seriously, she looked to be all of fourteen years old, and she would not shut up. I even had to get the manager at one point) I thought the movie itself was great, and all it was hyped to be.

The experience was entirely lost on my Mom and Pam, however. It was "too dark and depressing." (never mind that they're both committed Law and Order addicts, including every spinoff of that show that's ever been made.) I told them about the graphic novels and explained to them that situations with the Joker tend not to end very well, regardless of whether Batman actually wins or not. They said they were longing for Adam west's Batman and Caesar Romero's Joker.

*sigh* I obviously won't be taking them to see The Watchmen next year. Don't get me wrong, they're perfectly within their rights not to like it. I am just having a 'BAWWWWW, THEY DON'T UNDERSTAND ME AND NEVER WILL.' moment from this. That, and they both think of this as the Film That Killed Heath Ledger, and that's enough to depress anyone.

Slight spoiler- )

(No really, someone actually asked me that today. I'd understand if it were a real emergency and they were a really good friend, but it's someone who is not even that much of an acquaintance yet, and not an emergency...I don't get it.)

Oh and BTW, as for the aforementioned trailer...here it is.

Everyone's familiar with the concept of a situation being a "train wreck" - something so fascinating, yet so horrific, that one cannot look away. However, I've been through a few of these in which I actually ended up in a better situation than I was in before the "train wreck" occurred. I've decided to call these kind incidents, "Narnian Train Wrecks," after the one in The Last Battle.

But, first things first:

MY JOURNALFEN ACCOUNT HAS BEEN PASTEDE ON FOR ONE YEAR! YAYE!

I finally got a look at 4th Ed. All I can say is, D:

This, and the double-murder of Mystra and Eilistraee (yeah, Lolth killed Eilistraee in the novels, and it's apparently canon) in the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting have led me to reaffirm my utter renunciation of Wizards of the Coasts' current bastardization of the game until further notice. So here are two other systems that I'm looking into, aside from GURPS...

Paizo Pathfinder. These guys still have the 3.5 OGL, and are basically going to continue where D&D 3.5 left off. This is the system that all of the Forgotten Realms purists seem to be going to, as per the Forgotten Realms Vault. I have had a look at the Alpha test version of their core rulebook, and I must say that it's quite shiny so far.

Deciper's The Lord Of The Rings Roleplaying Game. I finally broke down and ordered this from Amazon. Has anyone else played this? If so, what did you think?

Oh, Hellraiser fandom on the Pit. We need to talk.

Why don't you spellcheck, fellow Cenofans? I know we're supposed to be exploring suffering...but really. And I don't mean to pick on ya'll, but a lot of the fics I'm seeing just come off like Shoujo manga. I mean, I'm picturing cherry blossoms and the whole nine yards. Next thing you know, Kirsty and Joey are going to bust out in Sailor Fuku. DO NOT WANT!

I keep playing with the idea of just cutting loose on [info]i_wank and making a "Full Disclosure"-type post about my past experiences with the Neo/Trinity Cult/the "Zero-Six Contingent" or whatever the hell those crazy kids are calling it these days. But I'm afraid that if I do, it may not end well.

Of course if it doesn't, that may be half the fun.

LOL, HBP spoilers ahead...

I just started to re-read HBP, and a disturbing thought re-occurred to me. I'm sure it's probably occurred to others as well...

So, if the R.A.B. at the end of the book really is Regulus Black, and he hid the real Horcrux/locket somewhere at home, and Mundungus Fletcher was seen earlier in the book selling off stuff from the old Black place (the crime for which Harry angrily confronted him in Hogsmede) what are the odds that Dung unwittingly found Slytherin's real locket/the real Horcrux and sold it?!

:O

July 21st cannot come too soon.
