THE POISSON MUST BE FRESH!

Well, I now have a job lined up and a roommate moving in starting tonight. I also have three papers due next week. I'm a little bit stressed, and I'm not sure how to calm down. Besides cleaning and exercising that is. Deep breaths, self, deep breaths!

I also picked up Nano this year! Did anyone else? I'm like, four days behind D: For a while I just couldn't concentrate on anything, and I barely wrote. This cold weather just makes me want to curl up in bed and do nothing. Bah!

Anyway, could be so much worse. Dark Forces is keeping me sane. How are you folks?

Chocolate with nuts is the best chocolate.

Chocolate with fruit is an abomination.

Chocolate with peanut butter is good if it's Oreos concerned.

Chocolate, just chocolate, is boring and worse if it's Hersey.

Also, Baloo and Louie are clearly otp in Jungle Book. If only they were not a bear and an orangutan.

(chocolate/caramel is good too)

Sup, flist! It's been a while. How's it going?

Well, my parents came up this weekend so my Dad and I could "talk" our problems out. It was hellish and horrific.

A few weeks ago I found some old Harry Potter fanfic I wrote before the 6th book came out. So that would make it... 4 or so years old? yeah. And it's not that good, but it made me laugh so I'm posting it here. And no, I don't remember what the plot was, besides there was a Mary Sue (DiGald character) and she was hunting the creature that was after Hermione? And it was Harry/Susan Bones. I think. Idk. This bit's only seven pages long, and I'm pretty sure I never actually wrote the rest.

Prepare yourself for Harry angst!

So I've kind of had a bad week with my laptop. As of now, it's serving as a paper weight/writing desk. I can't remember exactly when it started failing, but it's been a problem for a while now. I figure it was overheating, which was why it was turning itself off at random moments. Then I would get kernal_inpage_error, or another blue screen. Anyway, I recently decided I'd just wipe the thing and hope that everything would improve. Besides having difficulty finding Admin passwords and OS disks, this went seemingly well. I mean, it was that or not use my computer at all, since it wouldn't get past the load-up screen. So all my data got deleted, which was fine with me. I mean, I had almost beat Doom 2 and I won't be able to get all my music back, but whatever.

I was hoping, however, that my computer then would run so much better. Unfortunately, no. It seemed ok for a day or so, then started having this "unmountable boot volume" problem, and I was like 'great' and tried to fix it. Sadly, it refused to fix itself, shut down each time I tried to repair it, and then, at last, it just refused to even turn on. So I think my laptop was very depressed and just wanted to end it all.

Therefore, I am at the library. And this time around, I had only done a little bit of writing on it, and I'm actually going to be annoyed if I lose that stuff. Even if it was only a little bit.

Also, classes start Monday. The loan isn't going to be as much as I thought, so I decided to drop a class and put myself on the "Be my Roommate!" list to make ends meet. I do have an empty bedroom, but still. Ugh. Do not want. And I am still in need of a job :(

I can't wait to go to bed tonight. Oh, that reminds me - my new neighbor blasts Eminem or some other shitty ass music all day. Oh my god, I want to kill him. It's fine in the day, though annoying, but when you start it up at nine pm and then keep that shit going after I ask you to turn it down at 11:15 pm? Jackass. I don't even care if I'm not studying and term hasn't started yet. It's fucking annoying.

Ugh I hate so many things going on in my life right now. My dog has a torn ligament too, and I just found out yesterday my grandmother threw out her back. When it rains, it pours. :[

Score one for the Fishmeister - I only have ten more classes until I graduate! I'm on schedule! \o/

On another note, does anyone know of any writing contests/thingies going on? :D? :D? I was going to do the Samhain one, but I missed it.

I also spent the day reading, which was really nice. I reread Jingo and now I'm nearly done with Misery.

Hello. How are you. I am fine. My name is Jerry.
I've been meaning to update for a while now, but I kept forgetting. I'm good; I have a new apartment that I'm moving into today, so hopefully the next time I get on the internet it will be from there. Still on the outs with my dad but meh. Semester starts Monday. My bday's on Sunday. So I have that to look forward to. I can have pets at my new place so I'm hoping to get a cat and/or some hermit crabs. That, or I will steal my friend's adorable Blue Persian that is currently curled up on my lap, clawing me idly. Oh, funny face!

How are you folks?

OMG!
My computer nearly died there! It's been behaving badly lately. It likes to turn off and refuse to turn back on until I switched out the battery.

Last night it pulled the same trick, and I took out the battery, put it back in, and somehow jammed the thing in there and the release switch got stuck. And the bloody laptop still wouldn't turn on.

So just now my dad took the thing apart and was able to unstick the battery. He thinks it's been doing this because the laptop overheats and then shuts off to save itself. Which is believable enough, since I'm always on this thing.

We've started putting primer on the room, but I still haven't really picked a color, so I got some samples. It's nice here, but kind of chilly.

Oh, and my mom found out I smoke sometimes with my friends. We had a huge screaming match about it. Awesome.

So.
We've been renovating my room lately. The drywalling is done and now we have to prime, paint and then get the new carpeting in. We've decided on this shag carpet that's mostly white with some darker specks in it, and something purplish or blueish for paint (they're Majestic Mount, Violet Shadow, Fading Sunset and Ash Violet, if you want to play around with the Explore Color feature on Bher's site, but the colors don't come out right on my computer - the last two are more purple, for example). Ash Violet looks bad under yellow light, so I'll probably go with Majestic Mount, though my mother would prefer a lighter color. I dunno! We also have the trim to deal with, which is the fake wood type I hate, and I'd love to paint it white but with my ceiling also white my mother is not too keen on the idea. It would still look bad.

I miss my bed though. I've been staying in my sister's old room (she now lives an hour or so away with her BF) and while it's surprisingly cozy for being much smaller than my room, the bed's mattress is quite inferior to my own!

Also, you've probably heard what David Axelrod said about Miss California. Bah. I wrote my first ever letter to a public official last night because I was so mad. What a dick.

I have been working on a submission for this, and I really enjoy writing it so far \o/

epiphanies and bad tv
I just realized I spend way too much of my time on the internet going to places that make me angry or bored. I need some more happy-making haunts. And Nikki/Jessica stuff. Like, maybe a new layout. Oh, Heroes, sometimes I miss you so much.

In looking through my old entries for Jessica icons I was reminded I deleted this journal once. That was so stupid. And then I privatized a bunch of entries for some bizarre reason. I'm not entirely sure what I was expecting to accomplish with that! What, no one was supposed to read my entries on my deleted journal? Rotten_fish so silly. So dramatic.

Family Love Micheal!
lol watchmenkink hate box_in_the_box! FW y/n?

Speaking of people I hate, I've started listening to On a Pale Horse by Piers Anthony. And holy crap, it's sexist. Every woman is first described for her looks and then whether or not the main character (I would not presume the author, but frankly that is what I am thinking in my heart of hearts) would have sex with her. I just stopped reading at one part where this lady says earnestedly, "I can't help being emotional! I'm a girl!" and I'm like, hmm, no. That's enough. And the writing is not that good. It repeats itself too much for me to think the reader is just accidentally saying sentences twice. But at the same time, I want to keep reading because I like Grim Reaper stories.

If you've never heard of it, it's apparently about this guy Zane who takes over the Grim Reaper position and takes people to the afterlife. Beyond not meshing with my own religious point of view (vis a vis: suicide, in particular), it also mixes science and magic with hilarious, but not particularly interesting or imaginative results. So beyond sexism and bad writing, the world-building is 'eh' as well. Anyway, I have nothing to read right now, and like I said, I like these types of stories. I like the idea of people taking over particular otherworldly functions that are at the same time very, very mundane. I mean, the Death ones are cliche by now (nobody wants to be Father Time, I guess), but I still like reading them.

but. lol sexism. and lol bad writing :\ So I'm not sure if I should keep reading. Has anyone read it? Does it get better?

In other news, I had like fifty goddamn viruses on my computer. Not that Conficker business, but a bunch of Trojan horses on a "Logic Bomb" or wtfever. But hopefully they are gone now.

Alas, my copy of Diablo 2 had to be sacrificed, and I hadn't even gotten to the third chapter. :'( Now I am without a computer game :(

I wonder what it would have been like if Janey Slater had become Dr. Manhattan instead of Jon Osterpeen. Write fanfic y/n?

Hotmail is doing something bad to me lately, so if you've commented to me recently, I've been trying to see what you said, but the e-mail won't open >:( So, sorry if I don't reply. :(

It's all over now, baby blue.
Finished! Now I can retire to the casbah with beer and cake.

(Is this an odd combination? For me it is delicious)

Gifts went down great. Guests helped with the decorations and they looked snazzy. I made a funny hat for him to wear and a lei. I wish more of his coworkers had come but oh well. Poor cat was terrified of all the strange people in his house.

All in all it was a success and the sushi was delicious. I'm also really bonding with my cousin, which is pretty awesome and a little weird.

The only bad thing about my new bed is the sheets are kind of harsh on my legs. Because they haven't been washed, I guess. And last night I had this weird dream. I dreamt that I was a writer and I was starting to realize my characters were seeping into the real world and trying to pull me into the ground. And for some reason it was like Coraline. Like I was the dad, and my daughter, Coraline, was telling me that words had disappeared off my books or something. There was something evil in the walls. And freakiest thing, when I woke up I felt something tugging my sheets down into the crack between the wall and my bed. Obviously just the dream but, man, that scared me.

Anyway: :D = tonight

ETA: I should correct this - her scrolling finger works so well she scrolls right past the offending comment to comment in general. "Well, SOMEBODY's really getting my gourd right now, I won't say WHO, just SOMEBODY. Fiddlesticks and flapjacks!"
