Stolen from Tehrin
I just picked this book up not more than thirty minutes ago. Otherwise you would have gotten Watchmen, Uncle Tom's Cabin, the Bible, or Fighting Poverty: What Works and What Doesn't.

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 56.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next seven sentences in your journal along with these instructions.
5. Don't dig for your favorite book, the cool book, or the intellectual one: pick the CLOSEST.

Misconceptions and Stereotypes

'Throughout history, there was quite a bit of stereotyping and gender bias about women joining the military. There are still some people who believe that women should be restricted to specific limited roles. During the years, people could not understand why a woman would want to do a "man's job."

Today, women are filling many "nontraditional" jobs in the civilian world, as well as in the military. Women are joining the military for many of the same reasons men are, such as patriotism, education and training.

During my military career, I have worked with and for many women. They were able to maintain their femininity while serving in the military; it was never a choice between the two.'

The three-legged puppy is named Lexi; she came in with a broken leg, and because of the break's location, they had to amputate. We currently have ratties at the shelter (we had ferrets and budgies too for a while) but they're always sleeping when I'm there.
