So I've been kind of busy lately, which is weird for me. And all my free time I've pretty much dedicated to watching all the Red Vs Blue episodes I missed, which, as it turns out, was a lot. I've found that despite all the problems I have with it, I still love it and find it really funny and I loved Reconstruction a lot. Also I think I got the quote wrong in my icon. But whatever.

Oh, and I saw Watchmen Thursday. It was... I dunno, I'm starting to think I read the comic book wrong and it really was supposed to be hilariously cheesy and campy all the time. I was kind of bummed with the changes they made to the ending. And all the additions they had to make the film more "topical." Plus the script was a lot like the crappy old version that people linked around on the internet. All in all, I really don't feel Jackie Earl Haley was right when he said Snyder was dedicated to portraying the comic book as closely as possible. Eh. JEH was good as Rorschach though.

Oh, and I went rollarblading with my bff last week and I still have the bruises from doing some epic pratfalls. Go me!

God, I hadn't been to Cake Wrecks in ages. I spent, like, four hours backreading there last night because of you! IT WAS YAY! ♥ ♥ ♥

Also, I can't go see the Watchmen movie because I've heard that they put the actual rape scene on screen and I can't watch movies with rape scenes in them. I've been caught by surprise twice in the past and I still remember both scenes way too clearly and just the mention of those movies leaves me traumatized again and it's just no. Very no. Bad and no. Ick. Ew. Muffled whimpers. Big ol' D: face. Etc.

Which is too bad, really, because all this talk of Dr. Manhattan's giant swinging blue wang makes it sound really funny, which isn't the effect they were going for, I know, but still. I will miss not seeing it. I'll have to watch for clips on YouTube or something.

Yeah, I'd definitely put it on hold until you can fast-forward through those bits. In my opinion, the movie itself is not a must-see at all, and the attempted rape scene is a good reason to avoid it altogether, really. I expected that scene to be much worse, and I was happy to see Sally get some solid hits in (like, she was actually, obviously strong, which I feel is rare for female super heroes) and while it didn't go farther than him unbuckling his pants before it was interrupted, I wouldn't see it if bothers you.

The penis was hilarious, seriously, and pretty big, imo, just for the actor's size, but altogether it's just a "cool" action movie with a lot of music. The acting is not fantastic, the dialogue annoyed me, the plot is confusing unless you've read the comic, the special effects are not particularly mind-blowing, and really, it's a bit too gory for my tastes. I'll probably see it again, but I just don't think it's that good.
