I saw the Princess and the Frog today! I liked it a lot. I liked the shadow demon things even though that's not vodou at all, but then I wasn't surprised Disney went that way. I don't know about racism or sexism in this movie, except that there weren't a lot of older women, and Tiana's new friends are all dudes - Naveen, the crocodile, and the firefly - which kind of annoyed me. I felt like no one really got enough character development except the Prince. I liked that Tiana was tempted by evil and chose against it, mostly because I can't recall another time where a Disney girl was tempted that way - fulfill a dream, just doom your love interest! And I liked that, in the end, she was able to have her job and her dude, and that he was the one who happily joined her (while still doing what he loved too, so it's not like he gave everything up). I also liked the twist that let them turn into humans - "Once we get married, I become a princess and therefore we're human again!" Very cute. Kind of pro-marriage, but in a really good way. I felt like there were never any moments where the audience just sits back and enjoys the beautiful animation until the end. Something was always happening! It was a fast movie, but still dragged. Do you know what I mean? OH YEAH, and I liked that the prince loved her first. And I don't know what the priestess meant when she thought Tiana should change who she was. Tiana was just fine. She was a good, hard-working person. Ah well. /spoilers

So, yeah, it had its flaws but it was still nice and fun. I liked the songs, the plot and the characters. I would definitely see it again in theaters, just to soak up all that animation goodness.
