Whu?
RE: Supernatural

All of Dean's problems stem from the yellow-eyed demon barbecuing mommy, and none of it comes from John's parenting skills (or lack thereof)? Bwuh? Really?

I mean, at their root, I suppose they all really come from YED killing mom, because if mom was alive, presumably Dean would have had a normal home life, but still. Just because YED was the catalyst you'd think John's occasionally odd douchetastic misplaced parenting decisions would still be part of the equation.

I'm much more sympathetic to John than (I think) most of the fandom, and even I find that idea strange.

Apparently what Dean yelled at his dream!demon was a denial of John's love, a betrayal of John, and now Dean doesn't deserve love because of what he said, so he's lucky John loves him unconditionally.

So confused.

Did this come off a John comm or something? I'm so confused. As many problems as I have with what happened in that scene, I think it's weird to approach it from the position of what it means to JOHN as opposed to what it means to Dean. Betrayal of John? Really?

It came from [info]dodger_winslow's latest post. I gather she identifies rather hard with John, though. She thinks every mental issue Dean has stems from the demon, and that John "salvaged him as much as possible."

Why don't I have any Dean icons?

Because, like any true fan, you decided to delete him from your fandom sphere of awareness for what he said about John. Naturally.
