| RenaRF wants Kate O'Beirne to drop dead. |
[Jan. 10th, 2006|12:10 pm] |
Why? Because Kate O'Beirne says"They talk 'freedom of choice,' but feminists are too contemptuous of dissenting women to allow them to choose freely how to live their lives without ridicule and disdain," Kate O'Beirne writes in her new book, Women Who Make the World Worse: and How Their Radical Feminist Assault Is Ruining Our Schools, Families, Military, and Sports.
dKos commentors agree! Feminist fun ensues.
I don't think this really fits any of the communities, but I thought y'all might like it. |

This story is so wrong on so many levels.
(Gacked from a comment on DailyKos.)
Some highlights:
- Atiya said Farris used his savings to travel to the Middle East -- unbeknownst to his parents until he arrived in Kuwait. A definite sign that your 16 year-old's allowance is too high.
- Hassan said if he had demanded his son come home, "it would leave a scar, disappointing him in his young life," according to the newspaper.
- Threatening repercussions for his unauthorized Mideast jaunt, Atiya said she plans to keep a close eye on her son when he returns.
"Once he's back and safe in my arms, then, yes, he's going to be without privileges as you can imagine." Aw gee, Mrs. Cleaver. Don't be so hard on the Beaver. |

It's kinda fun to come back after I've been away from JF for a while. I found the HK Wank, I think. Or, at least I assume the one on otf_wank with 1400+ replies was it.
I think the entire internet was having the exact same argument, but would anyone care to give me a rundown on how it played out here?
[Update: OMG I'm such a retard. I posted this in the political wank community.] |

I've created a campaign fundraising page at ActBlue: Crooks Out 2006. Please check it out. If you don't have money, check it out anyway. I've packed a lot of information into it, and I need feedback on whether it's coherent.
I know this is really early, but what I read and hear tells me that the big players in politics are doing fundraising every single day of the year. The problem is that most of those contributors who give big money early seem to be the very ones who expect pay for play. When I see so much of the grassroots fundraising going on at the eleventh hour, I just don't see how it can really help real populists fight off the Corporatists.
Anyway, if you like the page, spread the word. Danka. |

They're all gone now. |

I finally watched Dolemite last night. It was as bad as advertised, but much more tedious. I fell asleep during the karate climax. Sweetie keeps telling me about another one where the character's name was Sweet Dick Willie.
I'd do screencaps, but if I see it again I might lose my will to live.
I heard "What the shit is this?" but not "Bitch, please!" All I heard was "Nigga, please!" and that wasn't Dolemite.
The Last Samurai was excellent.
I got Dick from Netflix, but it was broken. So I wrote "Dick was broken" on the envelope and sent it back. [/12]
A Series of Unfortunate Events is my son's new passion, especially the movie. He keeps saying that Sunny is hot, which is just not right. I think he's going to do a transcript of it. That's my boy. |

Yahoo! Gets Sen. Barack Obama Photo Caption WRONG
Summary: DU member points out mistake in an AP caption. The photo isn't Barack, but another young black man in a suit. Other posters join in the mockage with an impromptu homage to the Senator Elect. Some posters are offended. Others try to explain the joke. Wankage ensues. |

zorrorojo was moping a bit about our national stupidness, and that got me thinking of what might happen if Bush got reelected.
There were a lot of protesters at his inauguration. I imagine there would be more if he had a second one, but would protesters be allowed? They've learned a lot about quashing dissent during the campaign.
So, signs may be out and teeshirts have been done a million times already. I'd like to see more of those balloon banner things, but that would be difficult logistically. What would be an excellent symbol would be books. If you had a big crowd of people all holding up a copy of Orwell's 1984, that would be amazing. Or Dean's "Worse than Watergate," or "Bushwhacked." We're goin to have to educate ourselves, or the television news is going to kill our democracy.
Books. Go. Hold up a book. Let them arrest people who carry books and call them a danger to the president. Educated people are. |
