something random. I don't think... Provoked by this picture. With the coming of the beasts*, man divided into two pieces in order to seek their perfection through what They offered. Both sought through the marvels of technology. One through manipulating nature to appease their desires, and the other by shapeing technology into nature. Each thought the other blasphemous, and wrong. One horrendously warping nature beyond it's natural capabilities, and the other mimicing nature without any regard to the original. An almost apocalyptic states seems to take over the world as the Beasts watch, their presence gradually forgotten as decades go by. Cities destroyed, those in favor of mimicing and preserving nature through mechanics group together with their devices and defend themselves. Those of manipulating nature lose themselves in their habitate as it seems to take over everything around it. Through the use of machines they extend their lives. Through the manipulation of animals they shed their bodies in favor of new ones. Each striving to achieve something they never really understood in the first place. Warring without real purpose, they seem to fight unendingly... Until those of manipulation take something not of their nature, and the Beasts are used in hopes to better themselves unknowingly. -- The Beasts are but shells. Temporary memory holders for a greater thought process. As with anything organic, over time it slowly crumbles and dissolves.. as is expected. Memories are often forgotten. Flesh slowly rots. Stars burn out and die. Only something empty can continue to live infinetly. Without substance, without thought, it has nothing to lose and so can continue to exist. This technology, accompanying the Beasts, is such a thing. Something like artificial intelligence. It's thoughts and memories are acquired through observation as with anything.. and those are transfered to deteriorating holders who, over time, will eventually disappear. It does this to preserve itself.. to keep itself continually living by shedding anything that might cause it to deteriorate. But that makes me question how it can continually decide to shed what it sees. How does it know that something has already been learnt, and what hasn't? There still has to be some sort of "human" emotion to it.. some sort of downfall that precents it from achieveing it's eternal life.. and that can only be pointed out by something organic. Perhaps.. When the Beasts first arrive.. A human does converse with the It. Perhaps, it makes this knowledge known, but It not wanting to accept it casts it away as with everything else to an organic holder that will eventually deteriorate and disappear. When one of the manipulating uses this particular Beast to become it's new body.. it learns these things from it. Unlike the animals which only convey instinct and desire to the manipulating human, the Beasts convey much more.. including something about It. But by combining Its shed logic with a humans logic.. this new creation seeks to destroy It. But if It were to do anything.. then that would mean greater continual thought and strategy... which would instill it's potential demise as it no longer become something made of nothing. Hmmmm... I want to see mecha-animals now. |
