I don't get to use this icon enough. It makes me feel guilty
I am sick of all my music.

People, give me anything.*

this was kind of hilarious

So. Twilight. It has vampires in it. I am intrigued by the notion of 'vampire sparkle' and will perhaps investigate that further one day. Or just get the sparkle accessory for the sims and attach it to a vampire, thus saving me a bit of bother.

Sep secret: I do not actually harbour hostility towards fandom wankers. I understand that everyone has their place in the circle of life and I accept this. Their purpose seems to be saddling me with such shame I will not be able to re-incarnate into something cool on my next turn around the wheel, but to be honest I was expecting a cockroach anyway since the killins'.

*I mean it. My current playlist ranges from System of a Down to Belle and Sebastian. Oh wait. No Melodic Death Metal or whatever that is. My cousin has been playing it at me all week so far and he was the first against the wall.

Tori Amos might be nice. NOT THAT I AM HINTING.

m at work, so providing d/ls at the moment is impossible. But I think you might like the Foo Fighters' cover of "Baker Street." YouTube provides me with the following link, but since there is no sound on this computer I'm just going to take it on faith that you're getting the song and not, I dunno, Kermit the Frog singing about rainbows.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dmAXamKz4LQ

If you like it, I can upload it later. Plus maybe some Tori Amos; I've got lots.

I am lazy, so I put it all into a .rar file and uploaded that.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/f4jzih

There's a shitload of Tori Amos here. 17 songs, to be exact. I also included the Foo Fighters song, plus a couple others I just thought you'd like.

Also, re: Belle and Sebastian. I didn't include "Seeing Other People," which is totally my favourite B&S song of all time, only because I am assuming you already have it. But if you don't, inform me, so that I can upload it later after I wake up. :D

Rasputina is the fucking SHIT. You know, in a good way.

ROCK & CRY. THEY ARE GOOD. YOU WILL LIKE THEM.

(Is it sad how much history I learned from Rasputina that I wouldn't otherwise know? Like the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire! I am ALL ABOUT THAT now! And I'll never forget the dates of the Little Ice Age either! 1315 - 1851! 1816 was the Year Without A Summer! Thank you, Rasputina!)

It's funny, because a couple months ago there was a program on TV about the Little Ice Age* and I was all "I know about that! I learned it...IN SONG!"

...no one really cared. ;_;

*what was really interesting is that they had some scientists saying that it was the reason why Stradivarius violins sound so amazing and why no other violins makers have been able to quite replicate that sound. Because apparently the Little Ice Age made the trees used different.

...well I think it's neat.

Since you like classical music:

5eme Gnossienne by Satie

Comptine d'un autre ete by Yann Tiersen

Yann Tiersen wrote the soundtrack for Amelie and Goodbye Lenin. That track is from the latter.

Danse Bohemienne by Bizet

And some Manu Chao:

Rainin in Paradize
Merry Blues
Me Gustas Tu
Luna Y Sol
Je ne t'aime plus

Oh and, this reminded me of you.

I don't have thoughts on yaoi. I've tried and tried and tried to cultivate some but my mind is fallow ground on the subject. Any day now I'm going to discovered and driven out of fandom by an pike-wielding angry mob.

I have no faith that my taste in music will appeal to others but I gave it a shot.

Dido, "Thank You"

Dido, "I'm No Angel"

The Kinks, "Come Dancing"

The Cure, "Friday I'm In Love"

Nirvana, "Where Did You Sleep Last Night?"

Fiona Apple, "Slow Like Honey"

Liz Phair, "Johnny Feelgood">

Melissa Etheridge, "Similar Features"

These are a sampling rather than complete albums, since Coxon has six of the damn things and my flash drive is only so big. Coxon is more rock with some pop-punk thrown in, but he also has ballads. His older stuff is a lot more coarse (this was before he got sober, so a lot of it is very angry). Nick Drake is a folk artist; his acoustic guitar playing is really beautiful, and there are orchestral bits in the songs from Five Leaves Left.

Coxon:
You & I
Gimme Some Love
Who the Fuck?
All Over Me
Baby, You're Out of Your Mind
Bittersweet Bundle of Misery
Flights to the Sea (Lovely Rain)
Freakin' Out
Just Be Mine
Standing on My Own Again

Drake:
Three Hours
Way to Blue
Day is Done
Free Ride
Parasite
Pink Moon

Enjoy!

Okay. It's just that, with your teeny font comment and your comment about your cousin in the previous one, I kinda had an 'oh, so that's what got played to death at him' moment. I think the label is properly something like 'symphonic heavy metal'. All I know is that I can't find it in Walmart and that it's in the pop/rock section of the stores I can find it in.

Yay! (I really love sharing music for some reason.)

A couple Tori Amos songs, as requested originally:

Tori Amos - Spark
Tori Amos - Caught a Light Sneeze
Tori Amos - She's Your Cocaine

Other... stuff, selected more-or-less at random (there was a lot of "Let's see what comes up on shuffle!"):

Dan Bern - Lightning Jazz (Funny)
Ben Folds & William Shatner - In Love (Funny in a different way.)
Star One - Starchild (About 2001: A Space Odyssey. No, really.)
Conjure One & Poe - Center of the Sun (Electronic New Age, I think. I'm lousy at classifications, mind.)
Nick Cave - Idiot Prayer (Quiet Nick Cave. As opposed to rocking Nick Cave or ominous Nick Cave.)
Faith and the Muse - Failure to Thrive (Goth)
The Headstones - Reframed (Also known as the band that guy in Hard Core Logo was actually in.)
Emiliana Torrini - Telepathy (Melodic with electronic elements, I suppose.)
Puscifer - The Undertaker (Renholder Mix) (Might be melodic deathmetalish. From the Underworld 2 soundtrack.)
Star Wars Imperial March - Rage Mix (Self-explanatory.)
Rob Dougan - Furious Angels (Probably best known as background music in The Matrix.)
Poe - Hello (Remix) (More of a self-cover than a remix; much more rock-oriented than the original.)
Avalanches - Frontier Psychiatrist (Dance. Often runs through my head when reading FW.)
Cake - Comfort Eagle (Damned if I can ever describe Cake.)
