Current mood:I win this time, dentist

Last one, folks. Thanks for bearing with me in my time of crisis
There's probably a lesson in all this about flossing regularly, but damned if I'm going to learn it.

I promised myself after my root canal that I'd brush and floss twice if not three times a day! That I'd got to the dentist regularly! That I'd watch my soda and sugar intake!

It didn't last long.

I have made so many post-pain promises to myself that I'm starting to suspect I am untrustworthy while under the effect of relief or stress.

If they wanted us to floss regularly, they'd have found a way to make it less painful and awkward.

Yeah, that. No matter how frequently, I always bleed, and it hurts.

Ghosts of little birds.

I regularly count my blessings for my naturally cavity-resistant teeth (I've never had one, and even my braces kept falling off).

That does not save me from the horrors of gingivitis, of course, but it's a good excuse for skipping the flossing I'd never do anyway.

My teeth like to get sometimes cavities. And chuckle to themselves.

My dentist keeps threatening me with a "deep cleaning", whatever that is, if I don't become a regular flosser. I figure that if it's any worse than the regular poking with sharp bits of metal they'll have to give me painkillers.

I can't even imagine what it is.

I haven't foggiest idea. I think she figures that the fear of the unknown will be an adequate motivator, but she seriously underestimates my antipathy to flossing.

I find it hard to take my dentist seriously about the flossing thing because EVERY TIME I have to remind her that my back teeth are wisdom teeth and that my adult molars that used to be there were taken out.

And every time she tries to tell me that I'm wrong and then I point out that I don't tend to get sedated for fun.
