ac1d6urn's and my story for the Severus Big Bang Birthday Bash has been posted! When we heard about the Severus Big Bang Birthday Bash community, we knew we couldn't possibly let Snape's 50th birthday pass! Hey, any opportunity for ficcing around! Our story's Snape/Harry (of course!), and it's one way Snape might have come to terms with his tattoo. It's got some smutty bits, and (hopefully) some funny bits, and it's called Seeking Skin. |

Art Rec: Illustration for "The Snidget" by veridian_dair@IJ The most lovely thing's just happened. veridian_dair@IJ has just done some amazing illustrations for ac1d6urn's and my snarry_games story The SnidgetShe's been a bird watcher for a while now, and it shows in the detail of the Snidget. The larger work, of the Snidget with Snape, illustrates a moment from the story beautifully. The characterisation's terrific: Snape's been caught in the midst of his work, half-turned with a flask in his hand, and the Snidget's perched on his shoulder, perfectly at home, tweaking his hair so that it falls over the tiny bird like a curtain. Please take a look, and let her know what you think. Current Mood: grateful |

ac1d6urn's and my snarry_games story is posted! Summary: After the Dark Lord's victory, Headmaster Snape is living under a sword's edge, when hope flies in past his shields. As well as the illustrations in the story itself, two of ac1d6urn's previous artworks can be thought of as illustrations of this story: The Snidget and Promises To Keep. |

PSA - connection woes Unfortunately I'm having connectivity issues that don't look like being resolved before the end of next week at the earliest (when my ISP swap is finalized). In the interim, I've managed to get a dialup line (SLOW OMG) that I have to share every night with someone who's every bit as keen to get onto the net as I am. So if I've been scarce - and behind on commenting on snarry_games entries - please bear with me. Current Mood: aggravated |

Snucius drabble by torino10154 The lovely torino10154 took prompts for drabbles to celebrate 200 mutual friends with kabal42. As is becoming a habit of mine when other people have already requested Snarry, I asked her for Snape/Lucius, with the prompt "ambition". She's delivered a nicely adult glimpse into Lucius' mind, New Recruit |

Fic Rec: "On Monday" and "In November" by sacrilege@IJ Quick PSA: sacrilege@insanejournal is the same person as sacrilege696@livejournal, but she posts her fiction only on her insanejournal account. Now, on to the recs! sacrilege has written a veritable fountain of intriguing Snape/Harry stories, but over recent months she's gone All Quiet on the Snarry Front. Back in February she wrote a magnificently angsty ficlet called On Monday. I liked it so much I begged her for a sequel at the time. So of course I squeed tonight when I saw she'd posted a new story called In November. The squee became a flail when I saw it was a sequel to On Monday! It's like a really good espresso: short, dark, bitter, but delicious and adult and uplifting too. |

Fic Rec: "Soul Play" by snapesforte Those of you who've read my fic recs have probably noticed that so far I've tended to rec mainly Snape/Harry and Snape/Lucius stories. However, I'm not so much an OTP fan as an OTC (One True Character) fan, and no prizes for guessing which character I read! This time, the story I'm reccing features Snape/Narcissa with a side order of Snape/Skeeter. It's Soul Play by snapesforte, who is one of those incredibly gifted fans who's both an accomplished author and a talented artist. As a quick look at her site or her Deviant art gallery will show, her style is bleak and gritty, atmospheric and dramatic. Those same qualities are abundantly present in her fiction, especially her latest, greatest achievement, Soul Play, which is not merely a novel but a massive tome of over 315 thousand words! And what a journey it is: an immersion in noir in all its fascinating nuances, from the post-industrial slum of Spinner's End to the Darkest of magics. The sexuality is hot, but I read it first and foremost for her Snape, and what a pragmatic, prickly survivor he is. If you've ever been intrigued by the Snape who was hinted at in the Order of the Phoenix and who emerged into dramatic focus in the Half-Blood Prince, it'll be well worth your time to read this extraordinary story. (Snapesforte says in the Acknowledgements that: "If you feel the need for a special pdf edition of Soul Play (available as soon as I’ve polished it up enough to be blindingly shiny) feel free to leave your email address in the reviews section, or send an Eagle owl my way.") |

PG SS/HP: "We've Got A Thing Going On" by ac1d6urn & sinick (Price of Magic) I've been quiet lately for a very good reason: after Terminus I was kidnapped back to ac1d6urn's place, and have been indulging myself in a blissful overdose of Acid. It's great to be able to collaborate in person for once rather than remotely. Anyway, here's some of the fruit of this tremendously fun time: a ficlet set just after the end of our novel The Price of MagicWe've Got a Thing Going On |

atdelphi wrote me a prequel to "The Yorkshire Palimpsest!" (G, Snape & Lucius) I've enjoyed atdelphi's stories for years. Her style is intelligent and mature, and she makes even the most difficult pairings fascinating and touching. As just one example, her Snape/Filch is brilliant. A while ago, she asked for requests for ficlets set either before or after any of her stories. Being a longtime fan of her WIP "The Yorkshire Palimpsest" (which she is rewriting to make canon-compliant), I asked for a prequel of that story, showing how young Snape first became entangled with Lucius. She's indulged me with a well-characterised and thoroughly believable vignette, showing the first meeting of these two polar opposites: "Received Pronunciation" |

Fic Rec: "Mr. Mysterio and Henry" by girl_tarte Since I haven't recced anything in a while, I thought I'd briefly explain my reccing policy. I try to rec stories or artwork that I think may not be as widely known as they deserve. Therefore, I don't rec stories from major fests such as snarry_games, even though the standard of the stories is absolutely wonderful, because odds are, you're already following those fests. Now that I've got the PSA out of the way, on to the rec! I've thoroughly enjoyed everything girl_tarte has written: her style is understated and her observation of human nature is pin-sharp. Her latest story, Mr. Mysterio and Henry is yet another gem. It's short (only 1800 words) and a delightfully subtle look at Snape and Harry in very different circumstances, from a very different viewpoint. |

iulia_linnea wrote me a Snucius drabble! When iulia_linnea took drabble prompts after her flist hit the 800 mark, a lot of other people had already asked for Snarry, so I asked for Marauder-era or just-after-Hogwarts Snape/Lucius.You can find a delicious glimpse of iulia_linnea's Slytherin-to-the-core Lucius here: Coaxed Confession (R rated) Current Mood: grateful |

Adult SS/HP: "The Price of Magic" by ac1d6urn & sinick Chapter 14: Birthday Well, here it is. The last chapter: the end of a journey that began for ac1d6urn and me, waaay back in 2004. Over a hundred and fifty thousand words later, we've finally reached the end of "The Price of Magic". I really hope you enjoy reading it as much as we've enjoyed writing it. Not bad for a ghost story that started with a 100 word drabble, is it? I'll be quick here, because I suspect the final chapter will speak for itself. To everyone who followed Price this far - thank you for your patience, your support, and your words. Happy reading. - Acid( Chapter 14: Birthday ) |

You're Prufrock and Other Observations!
by T.S. Eliot
Though you are very short and often overshadowed, your voice is poetic and lyrical. Dark and brooding, you see the world as a hopeless effort of people trying to impress other people. Though you make reference to almost everything, you've really heard enough about Michelangelo. You measure out your life with coffee spoons.

* For what it's worth, no, I do not believe the supposed scan was genuine. It was a very poorly written, shoddy ripoff, obviously designed to attract customers to the troll's "spoiler" T-shirt site. I really hope the troll and its pathetic little scam have already been reported to JKR's and the publishers' lawyers. |
