Criminal Justice majors who aren't corrupt, power-abusing, death-bringers!

Dear [info]sadisticferret,
The field of Criminal Justice is also glad you didn't enter it. You don't have what it takes and those who want to make a difference don't have the fucking patience to deal with your ignorance.

dear god.

As a criminal justice student who loves their major and intends to use it in the real world upon graduation (and is not in fact a corrupt abusive deathbringer), fucking this, so many times over.

When I saw that comment I just had to sit on my hands. If I hadn't, I might have raged, you know... Just a little. Oh, [info]sadisticferret; thank you, really, for painting the whole of criminal justice and by extension everyone its vast respective fields with the same shit-coloured brush. No, really, thanks a whole lot.

As for the second link, it's [info]pathology_doc, enough said. I don't really want to install Killfile, but he makes me want to reconsider that stance every single time I read a comment of his.

Man, I can't tell you how many times I had to backspace and delete and re-think before I finally submitted the comment I did. I just could not leave that one alone. Not everyone can be a CJ major. It's not a pleasant thing to see how cruel people can be to each other- on both sides of the law. However, those who can do the work and do it honorably out-number the scum who use their knowledge to harm.

I loved every minute I was working toward my degree. Once I changed what I wanted to be I never looked back. The world NEEDS people who understand crime and work to protect the innocent in the myriad of criminal justice-related careers out there. Criminal Justice is what put that man on death row, yes, but it is that same field that has freed so many and prevented the conviction of others. The difference? The people involved- it is the people who can corrupt the field.

It's a noble calling for those who can resist the allure of the power and can stomach the horrors we inflict on each other.

I guess I had never really noticed him before but in the last few hours he has been acting the part of a troll and then some with his comments to different posts. Fuckwits like that are what drive me to drink.

Oddly enough, I read [info]sadisticferret's comment to say that s/he HAD switched to CJ and was regretting it because s/h/it is the only moral person in a sea of bastards. Which is worse, because if I ever find myself needing the services of someone in your field I think I want someone who isn't laboring under a martyr complex.

As for the second -- I want to haul off and SLAP him, and I'm still minded to on the last comment he made about how the Republican party was full of idiots. I am minded to say something about 'you can tell us how to fix our political parties when you show me your voter registration card'. Seriously.

Ah, see I went with her switching and then deciding that because she was a moral, upright person she couldn't do the work. Regardless of which way you read it, though, it still comes off sounding douchey.

Exactly. Don't tell me how to run my government or my justice system when you have no concept of either.

Any way you slice it, it's douchey. I hate it when people get all moralistic about something they personally couldn't hack it in. So you determined you don't have the cojones for it; that's nice, but don't get up on a moral high horse and bleat about it like it makes you a great person to lack guts.

My take on it is that you're allowed to have an opinion on the way the US government/justice system/whatever work -- but you are NOT allowed to tell anyone how to run it/how to FIX it until you have citizenship papers in your hand and are therefore able to get out there in the trenches and work to change it your own damn self.
