09:52 am - And a happy, rainy Monday to you!
Well, Magus and I attempted to go to work this morning. An hour after we left, we arrived back home, after having been forced into numerous circles trying to get out of our flood-ridden town (the road alongside the park that I run on is completely underwater, and it's been creeping further inland all morning). After checking in with work, and logging into our terminal server/email account, I discovered that NJ's acting governor (Corzine is still in the hospital) has declared a State of emergency for the State, telling us to stay the hell off the roads. This combined with the constant whine of sirens outside of our window, has led us to the decision to just stay home today. I'll do my best to work from here, but most of the stuff that needs to get done (and there is quite a bit of it mind you), I need to actually be at the office for. So I can't imagine how productive I'm gonna be, but damn it, I'm, gonna try!!

In tax news, last week we went to what I assume will be our new accountant, and discovered that getting married offers the exact opposite of a tax break. In total, we are getting back less then half what we got back last year. Not so thrilled with this whole thing right now. But, what's even more annoying is that, apparently, we have to go BACK to the accountant either today or tomorrow. As they forgot to have us sign something, and just realized it this morning. I'm really, not liking taxes right now *sigh*. Not that I ever actually liked taxes, but my dislike is even stronger now then usual.

Magus and I got to go to the Cage Fighting Fury Championships in Atlantic City on Friday night. The tickets were free, we just had to pay out $25 a piece for the limo ride down. It was a very...interesting experience. Some of the fights were unbelievable to watch (the fighters who could stay vertical for the majority of the fight were those most impressive, once they fight degenerated to ground fighting, things got ugly), others were merely painful, and still others (the headlining fight in particular) were boring as all hell. Also, slash fanfic has rotted my brain, because I have a hard time seeing two sweaty, mostly naked men holding each other on the ground without getting bad mental images. But seriously, some of the choke holds they get each other into look less like choke holds, and more like Kama Sutra positions, so I'm sure it wasn't just me that was thinking things along those lines.

Well, on that note. I'm off to try and get some work done before the power gets knocked out or something. Enjoy yourselves folks, wherever you may be :-)

11:02 am - Cooper River Flooding
So, here's a picture of where I normally go running:

Snagged from the Courier Post.

Looks like good kayaking territory now though...

And an little list of the road closings surrounding my house that have me stuck here:

-- Route 30, east and west, between Airport Circle and Ben Franklin Bridge: All lanes closed.
-- Route 30, eastbound and westbound, between Haddon Avenue and Magill Avenue, Collingswood: Closed.
-- North Park Drive between Cuthbert Boulevard and Route 130, Cherry Hill and Pennsauken: Closed.
-- Route 130 northbound between Haddon Avenue and Park Drive north: Closed.
