01:12 pm - Long time no post
Eating my lunch at my desk (egg drop soup), so I thought I'd log on for a minute and say hello. So, hello!

Things have been hectic. Lots of stuff on my plate at work, so I'm seriously limiting my time doing anything but working while I'm here. This is a good policy, and I think I'll stick to it for a while. Problem is, I'm busy at night too, so that leaves little time for posting and LJ in general.

So what else is going on my way? Tuesday there was a special triathlon sale going on at City Sports at 16th and Walnut. Everything was 20% off, there was a DJ, refreshments and snacks, and door prizes. Of which I was a winner!! I'm waiting for them to arrive by mail, but I won these running shoes. I got to actually pick out what pair I wanted by Pearl Izumi, and I liked these the best (I decided to get a trail pair because the reviews I read said that these work well on all surfaces, and I want to be able to add some trail running to my future training plans).

I was actually in the dressing room trying stuff on when my name got called, this made for lots of laughter in the store as I stuck my hand up and over the top of the stall door to announce my presence!

I'm hoping winning these shoes doesn't hinder my chances of winning this bike after I complete my tri next week. Because it is seriously pretty, and I would like it to be mine.

Speaking of the tri, my training is going well. I'm still not a fish at swimming, but I can swim the freestyle stroke now for a steady 600-800 meters without having to switch up to another stroke or take a break. The swim portion of the event is 800 meters, so this is good news. I still don't have the water-up-the-nose thing figured out yet though. *shrugs* And last night I managed to do a full race-length bike/run brick (16 mile bike/3.1 mile run), and still had enough energy leftover to not feel like I was dying (even took the dog for a 15 minute walk). This is also good news. I think I'm just about ready for this thing!!

And no, I have NOT yet registered for the DC tri. And YES I know that it is 75% full. Hopefully it won't fill up before I have the money to plunk down on it, but if it does, there is nothing I can do. *shrugs*

I've also added in two days of yoga practice a week to my schedule (~3 hours), and I'm amazed by how much I missed doing it. My body remembers it well and fondly, and I'm hoping to keep up this level of practice throughout the winter. And this weekend my studio is doing a special Hot Yoga workshop, which I've signed up for. This is something I've been wanting to try for well over a year now, so I'm really excited.

Of course, I've read, finished, and thoroughly enjoyed Harry Potter. Not going into it now, as I AM at work, but I'm happy with the outcome, and lookign forward to reading everyone's take.

Tonight, Magus and I have plans with his brother, nephew, and niece to go see The Simpson's Movie. Normally, I would have no interest in seeing a movie like that on opening night, but my brother-in-law got us all tickets, so who am I to argue?

Well, lunch is done! Back to work...
