05:41 pm - BSG, Immune system = Fail, & Winchesters are made of Awesome Okay, first up, has to, has to, HAS TO be the fact that "Battlestar Galactica" has come to a close. *sniffles* I need to just start this off by saying that I thought the ending was absolutely, wonderfully satisfying. Did it clear everything up? HELLS NO! Would I have wanted it to? HELLS NO! Instead, I feel that it had a very organic feel to it, it brought things back around, full circle, like I had hoped that it would - and like we honestly knew that it would - gave us LOSTS of backstory on all of our favorite characters, and managed to answer LOTS of questions, while happily avoiding tying it all together with a nice big bow. (I hate big & perfect bows. I prefer things to be a bit messier then that.*)- The end of the Adama/Roslin story arc was so incredibly beautiful. I'm not certain that there has ever been a love story told so honestly before on TV. Their ending was just GORGEOUS.
- I admit to being a little miffed still about how quickly Tigh & Ellen got back together (and he just dropped Caprica Six) but this three parter smoothed that over for me, and I feel both of those couples ended they way that they should have.
- Kara Thrace IS(was) Aurora. No ifs, ands, or butts. I'm saddened that her and Lee didn't really get proper closure, but on retrospect, the glimpses into the backstory that we got for them shows that the closure that they DID get was very in tune with their entire relationship. So check me off as contented with that ending right there.
- I'm STILL baffled by Cavil's end. It fits his psyche, and yet, it is still baffling. Go figure.
- YAY!Agathons!
- I'm not really one for internet speak, but there is no more fitting way to describe this next bit: Galen pwns Tory.
- Sam's ending? Incredibly beautiful.
- There should have been more Leoben. *nods*
- The lawyer became President! (even if only for a short while) ROCK!
- And last but not least: Head Six and Head Gaius! Oh. My. Frakking. Word. That flash forward, and their little tête-à-tête at they end there? Brilliant! Lots of "Good Omens" overtones in that one for me. (This also went a long way to making Kara's sudden disappearance (which I was still reeling from at that point) a lot more reasonable.
This show was, hands down, the most well crafted show to ever air on television. And I'm pretty much already counting the days until "The Plan" and "Caprica" begin airing. And while I understand that not everyone will agree, and I respect other people's opinions, I have to say that I am totally BAFFLED by the people out there hating on the finale. Really, I'm beginning to think that some people get more joy out of looking for problems, then they do out of looking at what WORKS. Honestly, had the story managed to answer EVERY SINGLE QUESTION in a manner that made EVERYONE happy, then people would start complaining about how phony and unrealistic it was. Just, guh. This is definitely one of those inchworms not bothering to stop and see the marigolds thing. Take a step back and appreciate the beauty for a moment, folks. Your blood-pressure will thank you.
* The exception to this, of course, is "Doctor Who" where everything should always end happily (with the Doctor and assorted companions skipping off into the sunset), no matter how messy the innards are, because absolutely NOTHING about the show is realistic, and that is one of the reasons it is just so AWESOME, and I should be allowed to have guaranteed happy somewhere DAMN IT!
On the immune system front, mine is still taking unscheduled vacations. It's being a real bastard at the moment. I'm sitting at home, hyped up on DayQuil, and STILL only functioning on a moderate level, while Magus is off visiting friends. I missed work on Thursday, and left early on Friday. And I think that I have finally hit the point where I'm going to stop whining about it, and go see a Doctor and find out what's up. Because this shit? Totally not cool.
And lastly (but never least), Supernatural! Magus and I just finished wathcing this about 3 hours ago, so it's kind of fresh in my head. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I will never be able to get enough of how they are using Dean's time in hell in the context of the show. And to learn that John Winchester never broke - after 100 years? Damn. Man is made of stone. And Sammy? Oh, Sammy. I'm so THRILLED to see him falling into the using his powers trap (even if I AM a bit disappointed that he has been getting his mojo from demon blood, and not by the demons he exorcises themselves (which would have been HELL-a-cool (and damn freaky)) and least he wasn't getting them from Demon sex :-P). I'm annoyed that Dean seems to have managed to NOT witness Sammy's power usage AGAIN, but whatever. He'll find out sometime. And everything, everything that they are doing with the Angels is just damn, AWESOME. Honestly. Very "Lucifer"-esque (which, pretty much being my favorite Graphic novel of all time, is saying a lot). They are taking all of this in some very surprising directions, and I'm happily clinging along for the ride.
