prayer request - pregnant cousin with difficulties

If you're someone who prays and you're okay with praying for others that you don't know, then I'd like to ask if you could please pray for my cousin Valerie.

She's pregnant, around 33 weeks along, and she's been hospitalized tonight with serious complications. Her kidneys are - if not outright failing, then threatening to fail. They're inducing labor tonight in the hopes that they can treat both her and Joshua, her son, better once he's delivered. The pregnancy has been complicated in the past and both her health and Joshua's have been iffy for a while.

She's in good hands but things are very serious. Her mother sent out an e-mail to her friends and family asking for prayers for Valerie, Joshua, and Shawn (V's husband/J's dad) tonight, so I'm asking my friendslists on both LJ and JF. I'm also cross-posting this to a couple of LJ communities.

I'm also wondering, not for the first time, about creating an LJ community for prayer request chains, open to anyone of any faith or belief system to join or observe or make requests, just a place to gather people for putting their energy and prayer and faith to help those in need. If I did that, would any of you be interested?

For anybody who doesn't know this: pads that have wings on them often have a little piece of paper that connects the two (while still in the wrapper). It keeps the wings folded over and all that. You peel it off and throw it away.

Usually the paper is blank, or sometimes it's got the company logo on it. Today, though. Today I had a message on mine.

In a swoopy little italic font, bright green lettering:
Have a Happy Period.
And then in case you missed it, they repeat it in French.
Bonne et heureuse semaine.
I feel I need to vent about this.

Dear fucking dipshit at the Always company who had this insanely stupid idea and is probably a man:

I do not need inspirational messages on my pads. They're not fortune cookies, for fuck's sake.

Furthermore, as I am undergoing monsoon-like flooding in my nether regions, with some associated clotting, cramping and general crabbiness, I suppose now would be a good time for me to inform you that

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A "HAPPY PERIOD."

Not even the "oh thank fuck I'm not pregnant" ones really count as happy. You're relieved for ten minutes and then it's back to "Damn, this fucking sucks."

I promise you, if I open a pad and a little sticky piece of paper says "Smile! You're menstruating!" - I will come and find you. There will be arson involved.

During the wank commonly known as "CharityGate," the same IP was used by both msscribe and a series of anonymice.
