snarry_reader's Journal The fourth author in our Author Interview Series needs very little introduction. Telanu's stories are amongst the best-loved in the fandom. Her famous Tea Series, including the novel "A Wizard Song" and the latest installment, "Possession," can be found at her site: The Rag and Bone Shop. Be sure to also check out the hilarious "Coffee Series" and one of my favorite ficlets of all time, "A Modest Proposal." In fact, if you haven't already, be sure to read everything on her page! Telanu can be found on Insane Journal as ( Read more... ) Title: Something to Write On Author: Cybele Rating: Hard R Category: Pre-slash Story Link: Via the author’s web site, below Author's Web site: http://www.swish-n-flick.netfirms.com/ Author's Livejournal: Summary: Harry must turn in his Potions journal. He wish he'd known that when he wrote in it. Reviewer: Gaycrow Two weeks before the end of Harry’s seventh year of schooling he sits for his Potions NEWT exam. When he gives Snape his exam sheet, much to his horror he’s also asked to hand over his Potions Journal. Of course, Harry hasn’t realised Snape would ever read the things he’s been writing during the year - things about his Potions Professor which he would only confess under Veritaserum. Cybele alternates between Snape’s POV, Harry’s POV written in the form of his Journal, and also third-person, to very good effect. I particularly liked the paragraph where Snape realises just who Harry is interested in, I reread the passage four times before placing the journal carefully on the desk. I drink deeply from my flask, letting the liquid calm my rapidly beating heart. My first impulse is to believe that the entire thing is a joke. and his reaction: Be that as it may, I am horrified to find that his impure thoughts are directed toward me. I am. Horrified. I will my face into a disdainful expression and read on...because as his professor it’s my job to read his...potions notes. Harry seems to have a fascination with Snape’s writing quill ... He’s stroking his lips with the tip of the quill. Can I transfigure myself into a feather? and his fantasies about what he would like Snape to do with that quill feature prominently in his journal. The ending to the story is amusing, and leaves the reader asking for more. It’s a good thing Cybele has written a sequel, otherwise I’m sure there would be a lot of unsatisfied devotees demanding a more satisfying conclusion. Title: Le Lien des Beaux Reves Author: Cybele Rating: NC-17 Category: Drama Warnings: Story Link: here Author's Website: here Author's Livejournal: Summary: Severus and Harry take a nap at Dumbledore’s insistence Reviewer: Aubrem Eight years into the war against Voldemort, Dumbledore insists that Harry and Snape utilize a magic that will link their minds together. The link takes place during sleep so they (conveniently) go to bed together. By morning they are bonded in more ways than one. This story in interesting in that Snape and Harry allow each other to browse through their worst memories. "While curious to know what sorts of things lurked behind those stunning dark eyes, given the permanent scowl Snape wore, Harry felt pretty sure that the professor’s mind was no trip to EuroDisney." Of course he's right, and Severus learns that Harry hasn't had it easy either. The fun part is that they also have access to each other's thoughts as well and so are unable to hide their attraction to each other. The sex is hot of course, but the romance is as sweet. Cybele manages to make the end bittersweet but with a touch of hope for those who need it. Title: Scratch Author: Aucta Sinistra Rating: NC-17 Category: Drama-Angst Warnings: Story Link: here Author's Livejournal: Summary: Snape trains Harry to defend himself against Voldemort. Reviewer: Aubrem This is Aucta Sinistra's first chan story though barely, since Harry is 17 years old by the time much happens. Like the rest of her stories, it's top-notch Snarry. Snape gives Harry extra Defense training over the summer and of course, things heat up. This Snape is of the honor-bound variety and of course does his best to keep Harry at bay. There is "earth magic," a manipulative and somewhat unsympathetic Dumbledore, a cat ("Scratch," of course), hot sex, a final battle with Voldemort, and a magnificent gothic scene at the end with Snape standing on the battlements of his ruined castle during a thunderstorm. Oh, I love it. Don't miss the epilogue "The Holly and the Ivy." |
