Title: The Importance of Record Keeping for the New Entrepreneur
Author: [info]adbaculum
Pairings Snape/Harry, Snape/various
Rating: NC 17.
Warnings: for prostitution and cross-dressing.

Summary: Snape finds himself learning the tricks of a new trade. Harry finds himself in need of a good tradesman.

Even if you're unemployable and a social pariah, there's always the oldest profession to fall back on. As Snape discovers here. This story has a droll humor, and a lot of bite. Harry is a rather clueless would-be customer of Snape's, and one of the joys of this piece is that the story shows us that Harry can be human, all too human. It's sexy and amusing and has a hopeful ending. Very nice indeed.

Title: Duty Calls
Author: Elanor
Rating: NC 17
Warnings: not really. But it contains an image that is NOT worksafe.

Summary: Drafted in to save the wizarding world from peril, Harry and Snape cross paths in a most unusual situation.

Reviewer: Cordelia V

The premise sounds like crackfic, almost. Harry is bullied by Hermione into becoming a sperm donor. And you'll never guess who he runs into at the collection center. But it's not crackfic, at all. It's light-hearted, clever humor. The story isn't long, but it works very well. And it gets bonus points for originality.

17th November, 2006. 11:08 pm. Review: "The Finder's Fee" series, by Gatewaygirl

Title: There are three stories in this series: Finder's Fee, Spy's Game, and Winter's Sport.
Author: [info]gatewaygirl
Rating: Oh, very NC 17
Warnings: Ambiguous consent, spanking, BDSM (B/D, D/s, S/M), minor character death.
Summary: Snape and Harry enter a partnership, harvesting baselisk scales. Their partnership gradually becomes . . . .more comprehensive, and they begin an investigation to determine whether there is a spy within the Order's ranks.

The story is a slow-building mystery, which takes the time to explore and develop the relationship between Harry and Snape on the way. The writing is smooth and polished, and the story's well-crafted.

I think one reason I like the entire series is that although there are other writers who can imagine a Snape who is this cynical, tough-minded, and self-interested, there are almost no fanfiction Harries who are his match, when it comes to having these qualities. Harry is usually presented as being more idealistic, noble, or naive. This Harry is not, and I relish watching him interact with this Snape.

This Harry is sexually submissive (within set boundaries) but also willful, self-interested, and cynical. And this Snape is taking full advantage of the situation, while also feeling protective towards Harry. It's a lovely balance she strikes here, and one that is refreshingly free of any sentimentalism.

And the sex is beyond hot. Just saying.
