This fic is an old favourite of mine. Apart from Isolde's excellent writing, the story has a most fascinating plot. It's a time-travel fic, but this fic is unlike many others that use the time-travel cliche. Isolde brings us to the depths of history and shows us (once again, contrary to most time-travel fics that reproduce the past as the present, only in different decorations) that another era is another way of thinking, that people in the past had quite different ideas, traditions and views. That the dangers of appearing in the past are far more complicated and literal that the mere possibility of paradox. And don't forget the amazingly written Snape/Harry relationship, rich with nuances. Excellent fic!
