drabbles: colour my world & b is for blond bloke

Previous Entry Add to Memories Tell a Friend Next Entry
i offered drabbles to a couple of folk that did well in guessing my movie meme-age. i've finally written them. the first is a different fandom (as requested) and the second is h/d. they are pretty much quick scribbles. my brain wasn't working its best today.

title: colour my world
author: [info]snottygrrl
rating: PG-13
pairing - fandom: david (bud)/darryl (the basketball hero) - Pleasantville
word count: 215
summary: it wasn't until darryl looked at him, his eyes full of fear, that david realised he would do anything to make it right.
warnings: a tiny fandom that probably doesn't deserve to be slashed.
disclaimer: This story is based on characters and situations created and owned by Gary Ross, various producers and Newline Cinemas. No money is being made and no copyright or trademark infringement is intended.

author's notes: written for pingviini who gave me the prompt How about a short scene you'd have liked to see in Pleasantville, with Tobey Maguire' character in it? which i sort of did, and sort of didn't. hope you don't mind what i did with your suggestion pingviini. Also, i ended up having to watch the majority of Pleasantville again to remember how it all went. [*headdesk*]

When David saw Darryl kissing Brenda in front of the diner, he assured himself that the tiny flip his stomach did was caused by the shock of seeing something so ... well ... blatantly sexual in the middle of Pleasantville. That he wasn't having difficulty tearing his eyes away from the red of Darryl's lips. That he didn't need to hurry inside to stop his thoughts from wandering further.

Later, up at Lovers' Lane with Margaret, David tried pretended his eyes weren't drawn to where Darryl sat with Brenda reading to him. That after the rain started, and they'd all run for protection in the gazebo, it wasn't Darryl flinching at the lightening nor the way he watched David with such trust that spurred David to go back out into the downpour just to reassure everyone that it was really okay.

It wasn't until that night when they all sat huddled in the diner as he read out the new Pleasantville Code of Conduct, until he saw the undisguised fear in Darryl's eyes when Ronny turned on the Jukebox, that David admitted to himself that he'd do just about anything to make sure Darryl was happy again.

David understood then that that was as much as he could do, and that it would have to be enough.

title: b is for blond bloke
author: [info]snottygrrl
rating: PG-13
pairing: harry/draco
prompt set: 100.2
prompt: #42 friendship
word count: 238
summary: perhaps it isn’t just draco who'd like more than friendship
warnings: a bit fluff-ish
disclaimer: This story is based on characters and situations created and owned by JK Rowling, various publishers including but not limited to Bloomsbury Books, Scholastic Books and Raincoast Books, and Warner Bros., Inc. No money is being made and no copyright or trademark infringement is intended.

author's notes: written for 100quills@lj and for girljim's prompt "All of my filth is organized alphabetically" (which comes from real genius)

Draco had been working extremely diligently on developing a friendship with Harry Potter. A friendship that he hoped to parlay into something more with the sexy young wizard. Thus Draco was quite pleased when Harry casually suggested he come along to the Friday night poker game that was held weekly at the flat Finnigan shared with Longbottom.

As delighted as he was with the invitation, Draco was also a little trepidatious to be entering the lion's den, so to speak. Hence it was a bit of a relief to encounter Longbottom alone in front of the flat clipping a few flowers from the bed along the path.

Longbottom, amazingly, didn't seem to be embarrassed to have been caught picking posies and smiled in greeting. "Glad you could make it, Draco," he said, motioning him to follow as he led the way inside. "I believe Harry's with Seamus in here."

Sure enough, as they approached the room, Seamus' voice could be heard quite clearly. "All my filth is organised alphabetically," he was saying. "If you're looking to borrow something with a blond bloke in it, it'll be here, under B."

Longbottom's throat clearing sounded suspiciously like choked laughter as he called attention to their presence. Whipping his head around, Harry's eyes widened and he flushed to the tips of his ears.

Perhaps he wasn't alone in his wish for something more than friendship, Draco thought, his smile turning predatory.

i'd say something about comments and goodness and all, but frankly, i'm a little afraid both drabblets are complete rubbish. [*shrugs*]
