I have been discussing the latest LJ fiasco with ![[info]](http://www.journalfen.net/img/userinfo.gif) snapetoy, and we have decided that instead of moving to a new website, we should all just move to Fiji, instead.
I think this is a good plan. Each section of fandom could have it's own little village, and we could all have one big Common Room Village where we all hang out and mingle with each other. It would be great.

Um... I have a favour to ask... since I am completely without any HTML or CSS smarts.. could somebody out there help me with something? While I've not really been using my GJ account much, I'm getting a little fidgety over the fact that it doesn't look like my LJ. I'd love to go over, customise and fiddle with it until it did... but... I don't know the first thing about any of that. Could some kind, CSS-savvy person pleeeeeease help me out? I'll give you the password and the images... I basically just want it to look exactly like my current LJ layout.
Anyone?? I'll bake cookies and stuff. :D ♥
ETA: Blah... nevermind... done it. BTW, does anybody have the Avenue Q soundtrack?? I can't find it anywhere. :(

Really. There is just something so fundamentally wrong about it. The way it looks, the way it tastes, the way it feels... it's like somebody just vomited up a load of semi-digested pork into a mould and left it to set overnight. Seriously... there's something about a million-times-processed meat that just really doesn't appeal to me, for some reason. Am I odd? o_0

Alright, seeing as everyone else is doing it... I'm son_of_darkness over on GJ. I haven't made an IJ, because... well... Id never heard of it until this morning...
I don't plan on getting rid of this journal, at all... in fact, this will still be my primary journal until it becomes clear what we need to do. I don't really fancy moving, as I have nearly 5 years of my life on this thing, but I guess I'll see what happens.

Sectus was amazing. The residential was amazing. Book 7 was amazing. These past two weeks have been AMAZING!!! I haven't been near a computer in over 10 days, I am scared to check my flist, and I'm going to be spending the next hour or so finding everyone I met last week and friending them all, but OMG!!!! SECTUS FTW!!!! :D

Can I just say how insanely blissful I am? I am floating in a little cloud of happy and I don't think I'm going to be coming down for a little while. I had so much fun, today, cruising down the Thames, picnic-ing, rolling down incredibly tall, steep hills and dancing in the rain with insane but incredibly wonderful fandomers. I met sinick, today (who I'd met briefly at Accio two years ago, eeee, yaye :D), and snapetoy, who I had been dying to meet ever since I'd heard she was coming. There were LOADS of amazing people there, and unfortunately I'm terrible with names, or I would list them all, but they were all incredible and funny and SO, SO NICE!!! :D
Last night was the Medieval Banquet, which rocked my socks... there were wenches, battling knights, court jesters... and not to mention, free alcohol. >:) How did I not realise these things existed?! I will totally have to find an excuse to go again. I couldn't actually sleep last night when I got home, I was so psyched, so I stayed up and watched 28 Weeks Later by myself... which did nothing to relax me in the slightest, lol. Tomorrow is going to be slightly more laid back. Lots of people will be going on the Harry Potter walking tour of London, which is awesome, but I'm giving it a miss in favour of helping elanor_isolda with a couple of last minute details. :D However, I am totally looking forward to seeing Wicked on Tuesday night and my possible outing with unsymbolic (and whoever else wants to join) to The London Dungeons earlier in the day.
God... Sectus hasn't even officially started yet, and already it is the greatest convention of all time, EVER!!! snapetoy will attest. :D
Whew... ok... I think I need to calm down, now.

So... Sectus activities have officially begun. We kicked off tonight with the Medieval Banquet, which was AWESOME, and tomorrow is the Thames river cruise. :D There are only 4 days until the con begins (4 DAYS OMG!!!!)... but... even more terrifying, there is just one week until book 7!!! JHASHGKAHDGAKJGDSJHDSKJGF!!!! I don't know if I can take it!!!! *hides in a hole* :((

Things wot I like:
- Baking in the early hours of the morning. Nothing beats 3am cinnamon cookies.
- Putting on a pair of newly washed pyjamas.
- Sleeping well into the afternoon. I didn't get up until 5pm last Tuesday. God, it was Heaven.
- Jamming my toes tightly into the end of my shoes. I have no idea why this fills me with such glee, but it really, really does. :D
- Watching films I love when they come on TV, even though I own them own DVD and wouldn't have bothered watching them, otherwise.
- The smell of that purple disinfectant stuff. When they mop the landing outside my front door, the whole building smells of it. I love it.
- The Pirates of the Caribbean Soundtrack. All three of them.
- Porn. And I don't mean fanfic, either. ;)
Things wot I don't like:
- SCRUBS!!! God... why does that show even exist?! >:(
- The fact that everyone and their mother's dog seems to think Shrek is something special. I thought it was Meh at best...
- Arrogant people. *rages*
- Children *rages more*
- The fact that America gets ALL the HP merchandise, and the UK... well... doesn't.
- Having an itch on your back you can't reach. AAAARGH!!!! That drives me INSANE!!!
- When your pen runs out in the middle of you writing something. Why does that ALWAYS happen?!
- People phoning me in the middle of the night, when I'm in my pyjamas and tucked up in bed, asking me if I want to go out for a drink. Er... excuse me?? IT'S 4:30 IN THE MORNING!!! GO TO BED! >:0

Randomly. You know when it sneaks up on you? It was weird, and now I'm not sure if I feel better or worse. Wah. I don't want the book, yet. Few more years, plz? :(

What with Sectus being less than two weeks away (omg, wot?!) I thought I'd better, you know... start thinking about my presentation. I'm hosting a round table discussion on Darkfic, called When Night Falls, and it had originally been my intention to just show up, sit down and say "So... Darkfic. Discuss." and merely join in any conversation that ensued. However, after some thought, I came to the conclusion that a more rational approach would be to, you know, prepare something. I've got a small list of things I'd like to focus on, but I thought I'd come to my ever-knowledgeable flist for some last minute pointers.
Here is the abstract for my talk:
A look at Darkfic and why we read it. In this discussion we will be looking at the ins and outs of Darkfic, it's redeeming and shadier qualities, and what exactly it is that attracts us to it. Do we use it to explore our own dark tendencies and lust for violence, or is it merely a matter of taste? Do we use it as a way of moralising, or highlighting how devastating life can be, or are we just in it for the fantasy? Which characters do we empathise with more? The good guy or the bad? The abuser or the abused? The living or the dead? What makes Darkfic "dark" and what makes it okay to enjoy it? Come in defence, or come in dispute, we want to hear what you have to say.
Now, as the abstract (hopefully) hints, I'll be focusing on the darker themes in fanfic, such as non-con, character death, bad guys winning, goodies becoming baddies (eg: Dark Lord!Harry), abuse, and so on... I'll be asking people to explain what it is about these themes that attracts them, why they read/write them, and what they think it is in general about Darkfic that is so appealing. Of course, I also want opinions from the other side. If there are people coming to the talk who don't like Darkfic, then I want to hear from them, too.
What I need from you guys, is basically some recs. You don't need to link me to the fics/writers if you don't want (although links would be appreciated), but what I'm really looking for is a list of Darkfic writers, and a list of fics that you think fit into that genre. I'd also be very grateful if you can think of anything that a good Darkfic might deal with that I didn't list in the paragraph above, and if you could perhaps give me one or two lines/paragraphs/whatever about what Darkfic means to you, that'd be awesome. :D
