Doctor Who 4.06

Soo.....well.

Yes.

I read spoilers for this episode already and whoever posted it had it down to a TEE. So I was prepared (although, who wasn't? She was either going to do her own thing or just add to the Doctor's body count. And we got both anyway.....) for the yawningly boring death scene. At least no Rose this time (unless I'm missing something from that creation myth. Bad Wolf after-effect, maybe?)

So let's get down to the one crucial thing.

Jenny? OMFG SUCH A MARY SUE IT'S NOT EVEN FUNNY. TINKERBELL BUFFY DOES NOT EVEN BEGIN TO DESCRIBE HER, especially in regards to THAT ENDING. Going off on a spaceship, plucky little Jenny off to right wrongs and save worlds.

....Except she doesn't know about all the INFINITE COSMIC POWAHS a Time Lord has. She couldn't even regenerate when she took that bullet for dear old Dad (ALSO: who wants to bet that now that we know the Doctor had multiple children at some point, there's going to be even MORE! Son/Daughter Stus and Sues running around the Whoniverse, now with extra 'We are semi-canon ZOMFG!!111" power?), she can't mind-read, she doesn't seem that smart and she's not even half aware of the secrets of the universe and all!

....And yet some evil thing is telling me that somehow she'll muddle it through like the Doctor. Not with wee gadgets or smarts, but maybe a cute little smile followed by a boot to the face (but not lethal! Oh no, let's not EVER use force at all!) And that same thing is also telling me that she'll somehow find her way to Earth (maybe regenerated as well, unless Georgia wants the role full-time) and Jack will find her and then she'll be the new Torchwood member along with either Martha or Rose. So now we'll have TWO super immortals that can kick ass, and the horrible notion that Jack may satisfy his UST with the Doctor using her and ew ew ew my brain ew.

The episode was....par. Just par for the course. In fact, not even par or sub-par. Poor, very very poor. That whole warring thing with colonial descendants and deification of technology reminded me far too much of 'The Face of Evil.' Not even Donna or Martha (who was ONCE again kidnapped early in the episode and really didn't do anything other than turn up when the others did. RTD, you promised us kick-arse Martha this season. You have lied once more, you fucking prick) can outshine this...this terrible Mary Sue. She's like a bloody Doctor Who fanfic caricature sprung to life! I mean...just.....GRAH.

Never, EVER again, RTD. Minus infinity points for EVERYTHING, especially for the way you've treated Martha AGAIN. Yes, I know she's not a companion anymore but damnit at least give her something to do other than get kidnapped and scream and cry and just...turn up conveniently! Even the Donna/Martha squaring up and giving the Doctor a hard time was done just once, in The Sontaran Strategem!

This...this isn't even a stitch-up job, it's a fucking hatchet job. I'm not even going to download the episode to watch again, because I DON'T wanna watch it again. I'm gonna put it out of my mind (unless I need yet another reason to bitch about New Who ;P) and focus on what (I HOPE) is the awesome of AGATHA FUCKING CHRISTIE and Donna wearing a flapper outfit. Because YES.

Doctor Who 4.05

Okay RTD, so maybe my little rant was a bit unwarranted. UNIT weren't such raging arseholes, but gee whiz the Doctor could reign in his bloody "I HATE GUNS RAWR" mongering. Plus is it just me or was the episode writeen by an ecomentalist? "If you don't stop polluting the earth will need to be PURIFIED BY FLAMES in order for us to survive!"

However there was a distinct lack of Donna's Magnificent Breasts, thus I still think you're a plonker, so the tag stays :P

Grandpa Wilf made me cry, especially at the end. Plus, how cool is Donna's mum that she had a fucking axe?

Also, was it me or was that Rose in the fucking TARDIS console?

Not a bad episode. Tied everything up nicely, even if the ending (right until the TARDIS decided that Martha could say fuck off to Tom) was a tad predictable, with Luke blowing them all up. How is it that almost every human villain redeems themselves at the end yet all the aliens are killed off? Human beings aren't that freaking special, RTD!

One thing I liked the Doctor's fanboy reaction to The Valiant being used for good, and the UNIT dude being all "Is that testosterone I detect?" and the Doctor being all "Eh, what are you on about? >_>"

That was nice SFX at the end, with the whole freaking sky on fire. I hesitate to use this word, on account of Tinkerbell Jesus but it was very...biblical. Although, wouldn't the people have trouble breathing (I mean, more so than usual) on account of the oxygen being on fire?

I for one can't wait for next week. Fuck, Peter Davidson's (That's the 5th Doctor) actual daughter playing The Doctor's daughter. She's so cute too, like a pixie Buffy. My brother reckons that she's in fact a clone. We've got 50 quid riding on this so RTD - and I never ever thought I'd be saying this - Sue her up please!

Doctor Who 4.04

Right then.

RATTIGAN ACADEMY?!! XD XD XD XD XD XD XD. Man, I so wanted all that kid genius' little minions to start singing "Oh Rattigan!" from The Great Mouse Detective. That would be just gold. The little guy struck me as a sort of mouse-faced (sorry) Seth Cohen-type character. They should TOTALLY have got Adam Brody for this!

Overall, not a bad episode. Liked the action, liked the Martha/Donna interaction ("Oh, you're getting married!" "Yeah, to a doctor. How funny is that?" "He's not skinny like this mug, is he?" "No, he's quite ~~excellent in bed~~ strong." "You know, I wish you two would start fighting now."). And Martha was awesome right until she got kidnapped and cloned. WTF? At least let her be awesome for half the episode! Plus the plot isn't that bad. I LOL'ed at the part where Donna told Ten she was leaving, and he was being all "OMG DONNA HOW CAN YOU LEAVE ME IT'S TOO SOON I'LL MISS YOUUU *EMOEMOEMO*.....oh wait, you're just popping round for tea?"

".....You're a fucking idiot, you know that, Doctor?"

I will watch it next week, so it's good.

Who the hell am I kidding? It's good....aside from the complete ass-raping RTD did to UNIT.

"I don't like people with guns, they're the bad guys." WHAT THE EVER LOVING HELL?! So they weren't the bad guys whilst you had Tom Baker's magnificently sexy form? They're the bad guys now, when everyone knows aliens exist and they don't want to be INVADED AGAIN like the Sycorax thing? They're the bad guys for having guns?! Man, that's terrible. Those awful, civilian-bullying, baby beating UNIT bastards. You'd think they were part of military intelligence the way they acted....OH WAIT HOLD ON NOW.

I get the need to update them for modern times, but really did you have to lay it on so thick, RTD? UNIT's portrayal in this episode practically screams "We are going to be complete assholes for the rest of the season and thus serve as a vehicle on how 'peaceful' Ten is (BAHAHAHAHAHAHA WHUT I think the Family of Blood and the Racnoss would disagree) and how Torchwood is brilliant in comparison to our idiocy and gung-ho attitude."

I'm 1000% positive that Martha's gonna see UNIT for what it is - completely evil and/or useless and stubborn - and end up joining Capt. Jack's Torchwood come the end of Season 4, just cos Torchwood is SO much better and RTD can't bear for anything to outshine his creations (Rose, anyone?). And UNIT will get a most ignomius sending off and it'll all be the Doctor's fault but NOT REALLY, like with Harriet Jones which led to THE MASTER but it wasn't his fault AND ON TOP OF THAT HE WANTED TO KEEP HIM ALIVE REGARDLESS OF THE DANGER TO THE WHOLE FREAKING UNIVERSE.

FUCK YOU. JUST....FUCK YOU RUSSELL T DAVIES. I HATE YOU. I HATE YOU.

Listening to DW Confidential now. They're using "War" for the UNIT section now, and DT is being all "The Doctor's relationship with UNIT has always being ambiguous. They use guns a lot, he doesn't quite like that." WTH? I mean yeah, back in the day I know that Three hated working with them as part of his exile and all, but watching Four interact with them you don't get that so-called ambiguity. He won't stick around on Earth yeah, but once something happens he and UNIT work together and save the world! The Doctor RARELY complained about UNIT's use of violence. If anything he berated them mainly because they didn't act quick enough, or sometimes fucked up and he had to fix things, but NEVER was it about their use of violence.

Just....GRAH. Fuck you RTD. Have I mentioned that yet?

Also if he kills Donna's grandfather I will be a sad panda :(

Doctor Who 4.03

All righty then.

This episode, I liked. I mean, it was formulaic a bit, following the trend of "See new companion. See new companion travel to the past. See new companion travel to the future. See new companion go back home to deal with more aliens. Run, new companion, run."

But it was nice. It gave the Ood a bit of a backstory (am I a geek for wanting a copy of both Ood songs on my iPod?), and it wasn't completely focused on the Doctor. I quite liked Donna's reaction of "Oh Gods, everyone's so horrible, I wanna go home ;_;" too. I didn't like that she decided to stay with him though. Come on Rusty! Don't give us something awesome like Donna pointing out what a fucking god complex the Doctor has and seriously thinking "Time and space is cool, but this shit is fucked up. I'll go back home now, kthxbai", and then have her be all "LOL it's okay, where next? :D :D :D"

I mean, yeah if she left we wouldn't have a show anymore but at least make the transition from "Christ, get me out of here!" to "You're not so bad, let's go somewhere else!" better. But then I remember: Team Cardiff, can't write as well as they think they do (bar Moffat) etc.

But I loved the ending. It's quite a change from the emo that was "Fires of Pompeii."

And I liked the way they dealt with the head honcho there. His loyal Ood Sigma, all submissive and ever pouring hair tonic into him.

OOD: "Would you like a drink, sir?"
HH (getting ready to shoot the Doctor): "What?! Not now!"
OOD: "Please have a drink, sir [insert evil little grin where tentacles are, cos I'm sure he was grinning quite evilly here]"
ME and HH and the Doctor: ".......:O!!!!"

Everything was awesome except for that cryptic bit at the end of the Doctor's "...song ending soon." It's either another "Rose is returning, fall on your knees and despair/worship!" (which brings up the rather awful possibilty that the Doctor's had some Joy Division/My Chemical Romance-esque lament in his head since Rose left :/ ) or a hint that maybe this current incarnation of the Doctor is gonna wave goodbye at the end of the season.

PLUS OMFG MARTHA! MARTHA! MARTHA!!!!!!!!!!!!! I mean, yeah OMFG MARTHA but I don't like how UNIT's been portrayed in the preview. They're basically the Army in red caps now, plus I didn't like Donna's comment of "So you turned her [Martha, presumably] into a soldier, did you?"

A lovely person on my f-list said that she thinks Rusty's going to turn UNIT into this gung-ho, anti-peace, "We r humans, blow everything up!" type organisation and put them at odds with the Doctor, all so that Torchwood will look better in comparision, and then Martha will leave and join Torchwood (I love you Martha, but YOU'RE NOT TOSH OR OWEN ;_;). I...don't think I'd like that. I've been watching old Who episodes and I quite like UNIT as they're portrayed, especially the Brigadier and Harry. Rusty, don't ruin UNIT. Just because Torchwood's fairly dumb doesn't mean you have to crap on the legacy of Classic Who D:

...I'll still watch it. If I'm wrong, I'll get kick-ass!Martha and hot DT and Donna's awesome boobies and a somewhat good story. If I'm right, I'll have something to bitch about on my journal :P

Doctor Who 4.02

OH COME ON RUSTY. Why did you have to bring even MORE "Time Lord, Oncoming Storm" emo angst? It's bad enough the Doctor couldn't do anything about Pompeii, but did you have to make him (and Donna!) be the ones who caused it in the first place? I mean yeah, it was a horrible choice to begin with and in retrospect it turned out for the best for humankind but come ON. Make him even more fucking psychotic, why don't you? >:(

I did like that he was going to be that cold as to let EVERYONE die, because it makes you remember that the Doctor can be a real fucking bastard. Forget Nine and his well-'ard Northern accent and leather jacket: it's Ten with his ruffly hair and freckles that's the real hardcore "I'm a Time Lord, bitch!" one. But then I also liked it when Donna stopped him. You get the sense that no, traveling with the Doctor isn't just fun and games and Scooby Doo shenanigans and she's starting to realize that, and it's gonna (hopefully) reinforce her whole "You need someone, you're fucking scary and like hell I'm going to fancy you, you skinny little weirdo" stance on the Doctor.

That "She is returning" line raised my Rose heckles up. I'm sorry, it's just instinctive of me to be on alert whenever Rose is mentioned. I think Rose is going to be that thing in the background that gets mentioned in every episode until the big reveal at the end of season triple whammy (read: Bad Wolf for Season 1, Vote Saxon in Season 3). Knowing Rusty, there will be horrible horrible emo and angst from her and the Doctor, and Martha and Donna and Jack will get relegated to the background because IT'S ALL ABOUT SAINT FUCKING ROSE.

AND WE HAD TINKERBELL JESUS DOCTOR AGAIN. Stepping out of the Heavenly TARDIS, offering salvation to doomed souls and him being all glowy and righteous and then BEING WORSHIPPED AT THE END OF THE EPISODE FUCK YOU RUSTY FOR TINKERBELL JESUS WHY DID YOU THINK IT WAS A GOOD IDEA ARGLEBLARRRGHREOUIEQOUBDSAASADFDA

*breathes* Sorry.

It had some great lines though, this episode.

"You fought the alien off with a water pistol. I bloody love you!"

"We're not married." "No." "Never." "Never ever."

Doctor Who 4x01

Well the episode was fairly good, but then I've noticed that RTD does this a lot. His first episodes tend to be appeasement offerings towards fandom for the mistakes he made the last time. Like in the first episode of Season 3, he set Martha up to be the anti-Rose (speaking of which, what the hell is she doing in the first episode? Huh. Maybe she's kinda flitting between the two dimensions and doesn't know it? Or maybe she's EvilGhost!Rose!!), and look what happened. So until later in the season, I'm gonna wait and see if he fucks up the awesome of Donna completely and utterly rejecting the Doctor's Time Cock.

"No! A mate!!"
"I'm not mating with the likes of you! You're a big stick of nothing, alien nothing!"
"...."

"[Martha] fancied me *insert cocky grin here*"

The plot made me laugh. It was just a bit silly (Alien babies made from fat? Intergalactic Supernanny? WTF?), in fact possibly sillier than space rhinos and a bloodsucking, straw-carrying OAP.

Eh, might as well go the whole hog. Hopefully Season 4 New Who won't be the painful experience of Season 3 New Who. As long as Donna rejects the Time Cock, Martha isn't hung up over the Doctor, Rose doesn't Sue it up and the Doctor keeps the emo in check, I think I can enjoy myself.

AND HOPEFULLY WE WILL HAVE NO SAINT ROSE OR TINKERBELL JESUS.

That was...a whole lot of nothing. I mean, I suppose it's a good thing because they didn't really do anything that annoyed me greatly. It was just a filler episode, saying how they all came to work for Torchwood. They should have saved the explosion for last, instead of at the beginning because it just comes off as "OMG....oh wait, it's at the beginning. AND there's flashbacks. They're all gonna live." And ZHOOP! Dramatic Tension goes out the window.

And they REALLY could have done more with the 19th century Torchwood Mark I lesbians.

For shame, for shame.

But OMFG CAPTAIN JOHN HART (Even though he did come off as a petulant, scorned ex-wife from hell >.>). He's coming back to have sizzling chemistry with Jack (as seen when he chains Jack up and gets what looks like a space whip) and blow shit up, and he's got Jack's younger brother? The HELL? No way that's Jack brother. It's probably a clone of some sort or a robot to fuck with him. Cos I don't see them bringing in Gray as a future member of cast.

....UNLESS he goes missing again at the end of the season, and Jack goes to look for him, which will tie in with Doctor Who when he makes his appearance.

I can't wait two weeks! ;_;
