Okay.
- I am spare_change at GreatestJournal, InsaneJournal, LiveJournal, and JournalFen. I also have a ranting journal here at JournalFen, which I'm keeping as a foul-mouthed home-away-from-home.
- I have friended everyone I could find on GJ and JF. And I will friend everyone up to the 100-friend limit at IJ. Please let me know if you’d like me to friend you and I haven’t yet.
- I have downloaded Semagic and from now on, I will be cross-posting in GJ, IJ, LJ, and JF. Here’s how. I’ll cut the majority of my posts so I don’t end up spamming people who, like me, have multiple friends lists.
-Right now, JournalFen is my site of choice, for a number of reasons I will post about soon.

I am not worried about Fragmentation and The Great Fandom Exodus. When I joined fandom back in late 2001/early 2002, people were still scattered over various sites. Some, like me, posted in DeadJournal. Others were on Diaryland. A few had personal blogs. A lot just hung out on various forums. And, yes, there was a good handful already on LiveJournal, but they often created dummy accounts so they could read their friends on other sites.
Eventually, there was sufficient critical mass on LJ and the drawbacks of the other blogging softwares became more clear (poor servers at DeadJournal, commenting difficulties at Diaryland, irritating message board rules, etc.), and everyone moved on over to LJ.
Hence the current fandom consolidation.
So I do have faith that while for the moment there may be a lot of repetition and cross-posting, as time goes by one of our various options will become the clear winner, and everyone – or close enough, anyway – will end up migrating over there just so they can keep up with everyone else.
As long as it’s not MySpace, I’m happy. :D But I'm rooting for JF.
