It's good to see that I'm not the only one who wanks about Orson Scott Card and causes flamewarsdiscussion on own livejournal
Ah, good time, good time. :D

On a Fake Mailing list, someone wrote the following:
Well..........
I think people choose whether or not to be gay. I suppose I'm one of those biblethumpers.
To me, being gay is unnatural. It's wrong. It's a sin. And right now, I think that being bisexual has become a trend. You turn it on MTV and see all these girls kissing other girls and what not, and they come out with shows promoting this type of behavior, and the younger generation thinks, well shoot, it's okay for me to be this way, and write it off as experimentation.
I say, if you want to experiment, become a scientist.
I don't understand how a woman could want another woman. And especially men, I don't understand how a man could want another man. I mean - that hole back there wasn't meant to be screwed.
If I ever had a son, and he turned out gay, it would break my heart and I hate to say it, but I'd probably disown him.
I'm not judgemental of homosexuals. Only God can judge. I am tolerant of gay people, and I even had a gay friend once. I lost contact with him after he quit his job. And I love FAKE and I'm even writing FAKE fanfiction, so you know I'm tolerant of gays and lesbians and whatever. But the point is, I think everyone has a choice, and being gay is a choice. It's not ingrated in your genes or whatever.
And that's my opinion.
The part about disowning him is just offensive to me. I pity her children, if she has any. I honestly don't understand why she's a fan of Fake at all. @_@ Isn't it about teh GAY love among NY cops?
In the past 20 years, research has proved it again and again that sexuality isn't a choice. It's indeed integrated in your genes. Get your fact straight before you make your argument, pleeeeease.

For some reason, I found all the "oh, is that *inserts name* from LJ? Oh my god! We found each other by fate! Our love is eternal! <3" discovery in fandam_wank terribly amusing. I guess not everyone has the same user name in journalfen and livejournal.
It's like they've found their long lost brothers or something.

Quote: It's like people who watch a few shows on Toonami and claim to be Otaku.
I wish people would realize what the meaning of Otaku. The word Otaku literally means obsessive fans who have no life. You know, those stinking fanboys who jerk off to their blow-up dolls and never leave their house. North American anime fans have adopted this another "cool" Japanese word and used it to represent themselves.
Urgh.
I hate the word Otaku, and I wish everyone would just stop using it. Who would willingly call themselves "losers?"
I propose that all anime fans call themselves sushi because I happen to like raw fish on rice and it originates from Japan. Oh my god, how cool is THAT?!?

How can someone join a Harry Potter RPG without reading ANY of the books?

I am wondering how exactly one can be a writer without having read a lot of books themselves.
Often time when I'm lurking around on fanfiction writing forums or mailing lists, I have heard that people say they "never read", but they want to be an inspiring writer. It really puzzles me. How can you learn to be a better writer if you don't read others have written before? Being able to write is a talent, but even talented people need practice.
It's like playing a musical instructment - you might be a genius and can play the piano without anyone teaching you. But you will never grow if you don't observe how others play, and develop your own style.
So if you want to be a writer, then read! Read anything you can find, and it doesn't matter what it is. You can read a menu, a user guide, or even a porn magazine! You will definitely learn something from it.

Why is everyone calling Yuki Eiri an aggressive seme? He lets himself be pursued by Shuichi most of the time! If that doesn't make him passive, I don't know the definition of the word. Besides, he cries when Shuichi is hurt!

Watching LJDrama.org, fandom_wank and fw_offline from JournalFen makes me realize how much I'm missing out on the reality shows that are rambling around on TV lately.
I mean, sure, it's entertaining to watch real people getting into flame wars with each other, making an ass out of themselves publicly online, and getting trashed by the not-so-clueless ones out there. But am I the only one to think that making fun of others at their expense is very nasty? I enjoy gossiping as much as the next person, but I never openly trash another person just because they are stupid. Many people are stupid - and I laugh at them. But reporting to a group to let everyone else to laugh at them as well?
That's why I'm never into reality shows. It's such a waste of my time; I have better things to do. (oh yeah, ranting on a journal is so productive, I'm sure)
Honestly, who we are to judge who's worthy of getting wanked or not? Or we trust our intelligence so much that we feel that we can pass our own judgment, deciding who is "cool" or not? If that person doesn't make the grade, now we are allowed to laugh at him or her?
Jesus Christ. This is such a fucked-up world.
Oh, I'm fully aware of the fact that I have fandom_wank and fw_offline on my friends list makes me gulity by association. So be it. I'm not pretending that I'm a grade higher than everyone else.
Besides, it's always fun to point fingers and pretend I'm not part of the group when in fact, I'm truly one of them. Heh.
