Hi there. I noticed your journal when checking up on the Friends/Members list of fw_offline. :)

Anyway:

Honestly, who we are to judge who's worthy of getting wanked or not? Or we trust our intelligence so much that we feel that we can pass our own judgment, deciding who is "cool" or not? If that person doesn't make the grade, now we are allowed to laugh at him or her?

Now, I can't honestly speak for anyone but myself, but I honestly don't believe that most of the people in F_W or F_W Offline are thinking of their choices of wank in this sort of "coolness rating" manner. I know that, at least in my case, I do it because I fully realize I'm just as capable of doing the same stupid shit as the people wanked are, and that pointing them out to others to laugh/snark at them has an inherent wankiness itself. However, instead of being bothered by this (like some of the wanked folks are), I prefer to laugh at the silliness of it all.

It's all in good humor and entertainment for me, really. Only a couple of the people that others have wanked have ever managed to honestly annoy me or piss me off.

Anyway, that's my personal answer. I can't speak for anyone else, but I get the distinct feeling that the greater majority of the members share this sort of mentality. Everyone's been very friendly with me thus far, at least. ^_^


(Oh yeah, and your default icon? It could be just the way it's cropped, but the girl in it and her expression remind me a LOT of Viki from the Suikoden game series. Who is she? ^^)

Wow, I only have been on journalfen for a day and I already got people commenting on my journal! I feel so loved. ;)

Anyway, my rant was directed mostly towards some of the flame wars I've seen lately in various LJ journals and not towards F_W or F_W offline, mainly because I've only started watching the communities for a few days. I shouldn't have passed judgment if I haven't watched enough of what's going on, you know.

From the limited of what I've seen, most people who are posting indeed do it in the spirit of good fun and humour. There are occasional irritable comment here and there, but most people aren't that anal about what they're talking about. Communities like these tend to attract trolls, so hopefully it will remain fun in the long run.

I'm still a bit weary about the nature of the community. But if people aren't going to be nasty about the whole thing, I think I'll continue to stick (lurk) around. :D

My default icon is Kagura from Fruits Basket. She goes psycho when she's dealing with her love in life. Have you seen that anime before? I'd highly recommend it. Very different from Utena, but it's extremely well-directed and the characters are memorable.

Oh, I wasn't thinking you were being accusatory or anything, just questioning the... "ethics" of what we're doing, if you will. I don't think this is something strange to ask - hell, I did it myself when I was first exposed to the concept of snarky "review" sites like Cattygoths, and then places like LJ Drama.

As entertaining as LJ Drama can be when it gets good submissions, I think I'm enjoying F_W best thus far, because there's really not much sense of an "elite" circle within the members that some people might feel a need to try to impress (I remember notcing this happen a lot on the Cattygoth board, back when they were around.), and it's really easy to join in on the fun. It's like, equal opportunity wanking. XD

Ah, I see. She's cute. ^_^ I've only seen the first two episodes (dubbed) of FB in a sampler disc I got from an IRL friend, so I'm not really familiar with the cast other than Tohru, Shigure (who I think is adorable because he seems so laid-back ^^), Kyo, Yuki, the tough blonde chick, the sleepy-looking girl with the weird electric vibes, and Yuki's crazy fan club (none of which I can tell apart, of course ^_-). My friend shinkuu has a set of Hatsuharu icons over at LJ though, so I recognize that character too (I still can't get over the fact that he turns into a COW. *LMAO* Still, I love his look. ^_^).

I want to see it sometime soon, though right now I'm already spending quite a bit on manga, games, and finishing some of my other series, so I'm strapped for cash to go around investing on a new series. ^^; Maybe I'll wait and see if they come out with a discounted bundle/box set or something.

I love Utena a lot, but it's actually not my favorite series, which would be Slayers. ^_^

I tend to gravitate towards shounen/seinen-type shows and manga, but Fruits Basket has been recommended by a lot of friends to me because of the characters. I tend to trust most of their judgements (depending on what their forte seems to be), though in this case, since most of them have slightly different tastes from each other, having something they can all agree about so heartilly (like they do with Slayers, for example) often means it's particularly special. ^^

Sounds like fun. If I can think of a good wank that I can post about, then I will! :D (dunno what's the definition of a good wank ~_~xx)

I'm looking forward to a Fruits Basket boxset as well, since the separate DVDs can be on the expensive side. So far Funimation has not announced the plan yet. :\

I like Slayers, and my favorite season will be Slayers Next, because it has a plot. :D I also like how wicked silly it can get sometimes. I like all kinds of anime, it doesn't really matter to me whether it's shoujo, shounen or whatever, as long as they are good!
