Remus looked older than his years; his slender frame slouched in the chair with head in hands and eyes closed to his surroundings.
He couldn’t escape the taste of despair that made his mouth dry and his throat sting with the efforts of unshed tears. "You're alive."
He gasped as the man in front of him gently stroked his cheek. It'd been years since they’d last touched.
When Remus raised his face and looked into Severus’ eyes, his heart knew without having to ask. He pulled Severus into a sweet embrace, finally letting himself show the love he’d kept hidden for far too long.
