| GreatestJournal and JournalFen accounts: do you have one, too? |
[06 Aug 2007|11:39pm] |
If you haven't heard about Strikethrough07, it's either a) you're like me, neglected account for months, b) been living under the proverbial rock, or c) has a *life* which I applaud you for.
I'm not gonna go link-crazy on all of you in explaining that snafu; another post will take care of that. But the point of *this* post is: My username's teejei in both GreatestJournal and JournalFen.
If you've recently made backup journals in those two sites, let's help build each other's flists.
If you're already there [either or both] and you're on my flist here, too, then why the hell haven't I seen you before and could we link up? /hoping
Advance notice: You may have clicked on those links already and went to look for posts. Well, there ain't any. Yet. At least the important ones. Sorry about that. Editing and importing 200+ posts is not easy when you're planning and preparing for course majors. The amount of paperwork is horrendous. Why can't I just take a qualifying exam? Is it really necessary that I submit documents that the school's got records of anyway? Why can't they pass them around themselves? Sheesh.
Maybe I'll get everything up and running by Wednesday afternoon. Till then, please leave a comment in this post with your username in either/both of the abovementioned Journals and maybe a reminder [for me] on how we got to be on each other's flists, eg. fandom-related, icons, banners/headers, layouts, link-ups, etc.
Thanks so much!

| You're pretty...pretty. A great friend! No, really! But, um... |
[01 Aug 2007|10:00pm] |
Just got this some odd minutes ago from a class group mailing list.
TAURUS - The Enduring One
Charming but aggressive. Can come off as boring, but they are not. Hard workers. Warm-hearted. Strong, has endurance. Solid beings who are stable and secure in their ways. Not looking for shortcuts. Take pride in their beauty. Patient and reliable. Make great friends and give good advice. Loving and kind. Loves hard - passionate. Express themselves emotionally. Prone to ferocious temper-tantrums. Determined. Indulge themselves often. Very generous.
Well now. I'm mostly flattered and a bit embarrassed, really.
( Then I see this at the bottom. )

[28 Jul 2007|08:03pm] |
Still going strong, personally. Had one blogger drop out, and another flagged for inactivity. As for the others, they've got lists of topics and household chores. Boy, are they prepared!
Here's an interview of guillainbarre's mom who was diagnosed with and treated for Guillain Barre Syndrome.
Tammi, from Write Stuff has been doing character sketches.
And the Southern California Library Literacy Network has been posting links to different literacy organizations, assorted flickr pics, and vids [c/o YouTube] promoting literacy. Check this one out: Passing Notes in Class. My favorite!
Raven is having a contest. Win a copy of her book "A Little Twist of Texas".
That's it for now!

| First Four Blogathon hours passed... |
[28 Jul 2007|01:02pm] |
...and I have finally gotten into groove with the whole process.
Have made comments on my monitees, did my first group blog post, weeded out the erring blogs, and flagged those that have interesting posts.
Now all I have to do is figure out when the best time is to sneak out and do some errands. *evilgrin*

| Blogathon 2007!!! |
[27 Jul 2007|07:57pm] |
I've heard of Blogathon before, but this is the first time I'll be participating. I've signed up as a blogger AND a monitor, and I'm kind of regretting it now. I figured I should do monitoring first so I could get a gist of what's supposed to happen and how it all gets to run smoothly. I've taken up this issue with my Team Leader [yay, Heather!], but I'm still trying to make up my mind.
I've signed up to blog for Doctors Without Borders. I didn't have to scroll and make up my mind; I knew I wanted a charity that deals with medicine and reaching out to those in need. So when I saw DWB, BAM!, no second thoughts. I've also been reading up on articles posted on their site, and I'm just floored. I know I had a more than general idea of the medical and healthcare situations in most Third World countries, but DAMN! My heart aches. Truly. And I'm gonna be using that pain to push myself to endure tomorrow's Blogathon.
If I'd be helping, even in this small way, then goodness, I'll be giving all I've got.

ETA: I had to drop out of blogging. Time-consuming errands c/o mother. *sigh* But I'll still be blogging about my chosen charity, just not as often as needed for Blogathon. I've still got some Monitoring to do, though, but that's manageable.
Till tomorrow!

| New Finds: Twitter, iStalkr, Jaiku, and Last.fm |
[08 Apr 2007|04:56pm] |
Due to my blog-hopping of all the websites of my favorite podcasts, I came upon Evo Terra's Twitter page. And because Evo is my god pod Master podsphere Yoda, I signed up for my own Twitter account and am now hooked. Thanks, Evo. ♥ 'Nuff sed.
Which brings me to Jaiku...
Jaiku's main goal is to bring people closer together by enabling them to share their presence. For us, presence is about everyday things as they happen - what you're up to, how you're feeling, where you're going. We offer a way to connect with the people you care about by sharing presence updates with them on the Web and mobile. I like Jaiku a bit more because it's like Twitter on crack, read: also acts like a Social RSS Aggregator. You could add all your RSS Feeds from LJ, Blogger, Tumblr, Twitter, Del.icio.us, Digg, Flickr, Last.fm, etc. It is absolutely amazing! *fans self* The geek in me can barely contain her geeky excitement.
To quote from iStalkr itself...
iStalkr is a web app that allows you to create a lifestream (based on Jeremy Keith's Lifestream concept) tracking all your RSS and ATOM feeds for services you use, like Digg, Del.icio.us, Ma.gnolia, Flickr, Last.fm, Google Reader's Shared Items, Tumblr, Twitter , etc, and create a time line of your activities. You can paste this time line data into on your blog or use the data in other apps. iStalkr then utilizes that data socially, like twitter, where you can monitor your friends time lines and other people can monitor yours. Now while Jaiku posts timestamped entries from your added feeds, iStalkr keeps track of all feed activities. iStalker is not meant to replace your RSS reader, but simply to act as an online feed catch-all.
As for Last.fm, from the way I'm planning to use the service, I'd say that it would probably sate the music lover. I've yet to explore every tool and solution that it offers, but it's looking good, so far.
So, in conclusion...add me, add me, ADD ME!!! XD

| Leave a Blog, Take a Tumblr... |
[30 Mar 2007|06:07am] |
Now I know this concept may be a couple of months old already but *shrug* what the heck.
Tumblr
What's a tumblelog? To make a simple analogy: If blogs are journals, tumblelogs are scrapbooks. Ultra-minimalistic. Instant basic formatting for links, quote blocks, conversations [convox], vids, show clips, etc. And yes, it also has the option for a regular post.
If the concept of tumblelogs are totally new to you, just click on the above link, browse through their FAQs and visit the resources mentioned.
I just started my own tumblelog, Late Night Loitering, and look forward to including yours in my blogroll. Ü
I love it and I'm sure you all would too.

yep. new alias in anticipation of the end of editing and the beginning of a new LJ.
i've been really frustrated for the past few days; my usual usernames were already taken! argh. i never knew someone else would've also thought of them and use them here. i should've thought of using them before, but meh, what the heck. *shrug*
one thing that pisses me off though is that the journals registered to the usernames that i wanted were frickin' inactive! they either have last posts dated 5 years ago or even no posts at all! i tried contacting the owners, but the emails just keep bouncing back. geez. i know i did my own hiatus, but come on!
one of the most important aspects of my online and fandom life, and i can't even coordinate it with the others. *sigh*
